Because he relentlessly attacked people living in Britain, as if they were ignorant.

Because the trolls supporting him were literally posting Nazi (and other xenophobic) propaganda.

Because one of the trolls supporting him actually asked someone if there was any "factual reasoning" behind entire groups of people -- in this instance, Polish people and black people -- being targeted for exclusion from immigration to Britain.

      ??!?!?!

...Because I don't? We all love Rooster Teeth (and/or their affiliates) and the content they produce. I don't post often on the site or have tons of friends here, so I have no illusion that this will impact many people, but I thought I'd get it off my chest anyway:

I'm tired of people complaining about "the direction of RT" or the alleged change in its focus "away from the fans." It's nonsense. RT is (and has always been) a company -- to think that they won't try to grow or find ways to make money is ludicrous.

I don't know. Now I'm starting to ramble...I'm just annoyed that people feel the need to shit on the community as it is now, as if it's somehow improper or false -- they're effectively claiming that my fandom is in some way inferior or negatively impacting the company, as opposed to actively helping it to survive.

EXCLAIMER: I'll probably ramble here. You're forewarned...whoever you are that reads this.

I find it hard to express a lifetime's worth of living - not that I've yet lived what I consider to be a "lifetime's worth of living," but...well, you should know what I mean. How do you break down the story of your life - so far?

Watching the recent livestream with Richard Garriott has made me realize just how omnipresent the advances in computer technology have been in my short life...I'm of the age where I can remember the spread of the Internet - maybe not precisely when it started to become widespread, since (for me) it kind of suddenly appeared (and totally changed my life), but...I can remember a time where we didn't have the Internet. At least, not in any form like we do today - I remember looking up my Star Wars and Dragonball Z information in the mid-to-late-90s through the use of mostly text-based sites. Yes, those godawful things...

The livestream also reinforced how omnipresent - I like that word - and, perhaps more correctly, important video games and the growth of the industry has been in my life. I missed out on the early days; really, I've missed out on so much, it makes me sad...sad that, at this point, I really can't go back and play all the games I wanted to or heard about, but, for whatever reason, wasn't able to or didn't back in the day...not entirely sure where I'm going with this thought - it's just crazy to go from playing the SEGA Master System in 1993(ish) to playing Minecraft with someone on the other side of the continent, who I've never met face-to-face. What a strange, amazing world we live in...

    • Why...

      melkomorgoth

...are we implored, as a society, to accept and protect the opinions of those who are wilfully ignorant? I'm not referring to those who are reasonably ignorant (usually due to lack of education) - I mean, why must we accept and protect the opinions of those whose ignorance is vile and hate-filled, and not based at all in reality (i.e. racists and/or other bigots)?

    • Spirituality

      melkomorgoth

This doesn't actually have much (if anything) to do with actual spirituality - I'm a little bit drunk (tipsy, maybe) and listening to Led Zeppelin. They are the closest to a spiritual experience for me - when I listen to the music that those four talented men were able to conjure, I'm spirited away (get it?) to some other temporal plane...maybe I'm just spouting bullshit - it's hard to say.

I feel different - fulfilled, almost - when I listen to them. Weird. smiley13.gif

If there's one negative aspect to the end-of-year holiday season, it's the fact that around this time, we start to hear all the "War on Christmas" rhetoric once again.

Here's how I stand on the issue, to make it nice and simple: HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

        Excelsior! (Wait, what?)

It took me a few minutes to figure it out. Thankfully, that was the fifth or sixth "Kashmir" I compared. smiley6.gif

After careful comparison of the audio from the video with what I have, it appears to be from the May 26th gig, bootlegged by EVSD as Bringing Down the House.

I'm assuming they recorded that at least once (Sept.-Oct., 1968) - possibly twice (sometime mid-1969). Rumours also abound about versions of "As Long as I Have You"...I wouldn't even mind if most of the extra tracks (if we end up getting any) have already been bootlegged, because they would be in such better quality.

Speculation Train Kept A' Rollin'. If I ever have a Zeppelin cover band, that's going to be one of the original tracks.

I got what you mean - the truth is that it's too early to speculate too much. I'd also read some idiotic comments over on that forum which got my back up. smiley6.gif

I didn't want to seem like I wasn't excited about new Zeppelin releases, especially when you think of all the gems Pagey probably has lying around in his collection.

Talking about the 2007 set? That was just a remaster of a remaster - John Davis took the 1990s remasters and punched them up for the mini-LP release. It seems that Pagey's going back to the multi-tracks and/or the original mixdown masters for these. The idea is that they're going to include bonus songs and tracks. According to JTM on the LZ site: "In an inteview in Mojo magazine issue 229, December 2012 Jimmy talks about a number of Zeppelin projects that "will" come out startng next year. There will be one box set per album with different versions as extra tracks. He does'nt go into anymore detail." Think about the potential there! smiley6.gif

Hmm, I guess it's nice that he's doing something. . .but hasn't there already been a "Definitive" Led Zeppelin release?

The info is still a little muddy - here's a link mentioning what Jimmy's manager has said, and people who've bought the latest issue of Mojo claim that the interview with Jimmy included there mentions the remastering and they seem to conclude that it'll be similar to the recent Pink Floyd sets as well.

It really is. It gets slagged quite a bit, but really picks up around the middle-point of the show. Have you heard the news/rumours about next year?

I have a copy of Southampton lying around somewhere. It's awesome to have such a wicked loose show in such quality.

A lot of people talk crap about the California run of shows, but I think they're pretty awesome, particularly the two Long Beach gigs from that year. I also really enjoy the 1973 Southampton show - just received a copy of it in the mail, actually!

I like me some '75, too. . .1975.02.12 like you mentioned, also 02.28 and any of the shows with The Crunge in the WLL medley, awesome!

Hard to say...all-time favourite is constantly changing, although I'm partial to 1975 shows - possibly Flying Circus (02/12/1975). I also really enjoy all the shows you mentioned - I'm more partial to 23/06/1977 than the Eddie concert, though.

By the way, what's your all-time favorite Zeppelin show? Mine is probably/definitely 1969.10.10. 1970.01.09 (obvious), 1969.08.31, and 1977.06.21 (also obvious) close behind.

TU, MMH, and TSRTS all blew me away compared to my impressions from the AUD version. FYL and Kashmir were so good they necessitate a change of clothes. Robert let out some genuine 1973 wails. It also amazes me how good John Paul Jones still is at. . .well, everything.

I agree - like (I think) I said in my review, I didn't "get" the version of "No Quarter" until I heard it last Wednesday. And "Kashmir" was obviously a revelation.

It definitely made the boots sound like wet paper in comparison, and that was a great AUD tape!
