    • We're making a RWBY board game!

Today is a big day here at Rooster Teeth! We just launched a crowdfunding campaign for a new board game we can’t wait to make. It’s called RWBY: Combat Ready, and it puts you and your friends inside the fiercest battles from our award-winning animated series RWBY.

You might be wondering why we’re launching this on Kickstarter. The main reason is that we want our community to have a say in how this game takes shape. Physical board games are a new frontier for Rooster Teeth, and we need as much of your advice, input, and support as possible. Our community made our first movie better, you made our first party game better, and now we need your help to make our first board game the best game it can possibly be!

By contributing, you’ll enable us to use higher quality materials, develop new characters, incorporate new objectives, and maybe even work in a few wish-list features. (Stretch goals, anyone?) Crowdfunding gives us the opportunity to be bolder and more innovative. It gives you the power to help us make a better game!

What’s more, the board game community on Kickstarter is huge! What better place to go to get the feedback we need? We really want this to be a game that’s equally fun to play whether you are a die-hard fan of RWBY, or someone who just loves playing a new well-designed board game with your friends and family.

To make sure we’re getting it right, we’ve partnered with the experts at Arcane Wonders. With their history of making great board game experiences, and our love of gaming and all things RWBY, we can’t wait to show you how amazing this game is going to be! But to really have it all come together, we need your support. Thanks for being the best community on earth. We look forward to making this new vision a reality with all of you!

    • Help for Hurricane Harvey Victims

In the last week, there’s been a huge outpouring of support and concern for the victims of Hurricane Harvey from the Rooster Teeth community. We’re eager to help our neighbors to the east, so we have set up a GoFundMe donation page with a $100,000 goal, with all of the money going directly to the Houston Food Bank.

We hope this will be a good way to bring the entire RT community together to support those in need, many of whom are our own friends and family. We chose the Houston Food Bank because it is a local charity that works to provide relief not just during the disaster, but in the months after, when the media has moved on to other subjects but people in the area are still trying to get their lives back together.

With your help, we can make a significant donation to an organization that will directly and immediately benefit those in need.

When something messes with Texas, Texas fights back. Thank you for fighting alongside us.

    • Officially Announcing Blood Fest!

At RTX Austin last month, I announced that Rooster Teeth will be making a horror-comedy movie called Blood Fest. That was all I could say about it at that time, but I’m back to give you more details. Get ready, because cameras are ready to roll.

At Rooster Teeth, we’ve always prided ourselves on taking chances to support uniquely talented artists, and we’re excited to continue that tradition as we develop more films for our community and new audiences. Blood Fest is written and directed by a great guy named Owen Egerton. His screenplays have been on the industry-famous Black List two times, and he wrote and directed the films Follow and The Axe Murders of Villisca. We’re really excited to be working with him.

You already know that Blood Fest is a horror comedy, but we can finally elaborate on that. Here’s the official description:

Fans flock to a festival celebrating the most iconic horror movies, only to discover that the charismatic showman behind the event has a diabolical agenda. As attendees start dying off, three teenagers with more horror-film wits than real-world knowledge must band together and battle through every madman, monstrosity, and terrifying scenario if they have any hope of surviving.

Blood Fest stars Jacob Batalon (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Robbie Kay (Heroes: Reborn), some random person named Barbara Dunkelman (RWBY), a scoundrel named Nick Rutherford (Crunch Time), and Tate Donovan (The Man in the High Castle). You’ll also see some familiar Rooster Teeth faces when you least expect them.

It’ll be released on Rooster Teeth FIRST at some point in the future. We can’t wait to share it with you.

    • Release Schedule

      Hey there, folks!

As you may know, the 15th Season of Red vs. Blue premiered this past weekend! We've been so excited to show you what the team's been working on, and to continue the longest running web series ever. Of all time. In addition to that, we just kicked off a new season of MDB, and have some very special guests this season.

We want to take this opportunity to clarify the windowing changes. As we've already done with RTAA, Sex Swing, and now RvB, FIRST members will get to see episodes a week early, followed by the public release (on our site and YouTube) 7 days later. The same release windowing will be in place for the newest season of Million Dollars, But.

We are really grateful for all our fans and community members, and your support keeps us going. For our FIRST members, we want to go the extra mile, just like they do for us. FIRST members help support the creation of shows like Red vs. Blue and MDB, and we’re always looking for new ways to make membership even better.

Apologies for any confusion, and we will do our best to keep everyone updated on any future changes. As a reminder, there's a free 30-day trial for FIRST, so you can always try it out to see if you like it. However you choose to watch our shows and support us, we can’t tell you how much we appreciate it.

    • Lazer-versary!

Today marks one year since we debuted our first movie Lazer Team in theaters around the world. Getting to see the movie with so many community members from Australia to Orlando was one of the best times I've ever had at Rooster Teeth, and knowing that you guys made it happen is still something that totally blows me away. I'm glad to let you know that the movie is finally available on a ton of digital platforms around the world, including:

We're busy working away on LT2, and we'll have more news on it very soon. Thanks again for your support and can't wait to do it all again!

    • Lazer Team Mega Announcement!

Hey everyone! Lazer Team DVDs are now on sale at stores everywhere including Target, Wal-Mart, Amazon, and of course the RT Store. We also have some amazingly cool action figures and the Japanese premiere poster, and the much-requested Blu-ray discs should be in next week!

But that’s not the only big news of the day. I’m incredibly happy to tell you that Lazer Team 2 is a go! Yes, thanks to the power of this amazing community and the support of our fantastic partners at YouTube Red, we are officially making a sequel – and it’s going to be even bigger, better, and Lazer Team-ier than the first one. There is so much more we want to do with this story and these characters, and your incredible response to the movie has made it a reality even sooner than we expected.

One of my favorite experiences with the release of Lazer Team was being able to meet so many people in our community at theatrical screenings around the world. A lot of you wanted to know when there would be a sequel, and if you’d be able to support it through crowdfunding like the first one. We would love to get more feedback on how you felt the first round went and if that’s something you’d like to have the option to try this time. We want to make this the best movie it can possibly be, and as with all our content, that starts with listening to you.

Lazer Team has been one of the most rewarding creative and community experiences we’ve ever had at Rooster Teeth, and I feel honored that we get to keep it going with a sequel! There will be a lot more news in the months ahead, including more ways and places you can see the first movie. In fact, Gavin and Burnie are currently in Japan for the theatrical premiere of Lazer Team this weekend! Thanks for taking this incredible journey with us, and we hope you’ll enjoy what’s in store on the road ahead.

    • Introducing Rooster Teeth FIRST

      Introducing Rooster Teeth FIRST

Since the dawn of Rooster Teeth’s time, back when we were still internet neanderthals living in the cave known as Burnie’s guest bedroom, Sponsorship has always been a part of our DNA. Sponsorship kept us alive in the early days of Red vs. Blue, allowed us to grow and experiment with different types of shows, and ultimately helped us become the upright, language and tool-using, awesome entertainment company that we are today. And as Rooster Teeth has evolved from the primordial ooze of early online video, so has Sponsorship, which has grown into a full-fledged subscription video service. Now, the time has come to create a distinct identity for that subscription platform, and that identity is Rooster Teeth FIRST.

FIRST is Rooster Teeth Sponsorship… with a new name, more choice, and more awesome. Slightly less primordial ooze.

Right off the bat, I want to make it clear that if you’re a Rooster Teeth Sponsor, very little is changing for you, and you don’t have to take any action. As a FIRST member, you will still have all of your access and great benefits: watch exclusive shows, see everything first, no ads, get that 5% discount in the store, etc. We’re making a small price update to the six-month membership option (from $15.99 to $19.99, which breaks down to about $.67 more per month), but existing Sponsors are grandfathered in at their current price point unless they make changes to their membership.

As we make this change, we’re taking the opportunity to introduce even more benefits and subscription options. We’re going to keep adding more value to FIRST memberships, like the addition of exclusive shows like Day 5 and Crunch Time, new documentaries, and more exclusive content from many of your favorite shows like RWBY and Camp Camp. We’re even adding an amazing new tier for our most demanding members called Double Gold.

FIRST Double Gold membership includes all of the perks included in the standard FIRST membership, but Double Gold members will also receive a box of exclusive Rooster Teeth merchandise valued at $60+ in the mail each month. To top it off, there are additional perks like a 10% store discount, exclusive contests and giveaways, and starting with events that go on sale after August 1st, you’ll have early access to purchase VIP tickets.

If you’re coming to RTX this year, you’ll get a chance to sign up for Double Gold on-site at booth #837, and walk away with the very first RT Box, which you can only get at this year’s show. The next box will be mailed out on August 15 to all Double Gold members who sign up by the end of July.

You probably have some questions. Let’s start with the basics.

      Why “FIRST”?

FIRST speaks to the history and culture of both Rooster Teeth and the internet itself. Being first has always been important to this community – first with an innovative idea or product, first in a comments section, first to see the next great video that you know your friends will love, first to see a miniature Gus with his shirt off in a jar of mayonnaise, and so forth. Even the shirts from our very first RTX had “FIRST!” on the back.

The core benefit of Sponsorship was getting to see everything first, and we want to extend that benefit into other areas that increase the value of being a subscriber.

      When is the change happening?

Sponsorships will officially switch over to Rooster Teeth FIRST on July 1, 2016, the first day of RTX. For you Sponsors coming to RTX, look out for a booth near registration where you can get a special FIRST sticker for your badge. It’ll not only make you more attractive, but will also allow you to get into the FIRST member-only “Ask the CEO” panel on Friday at 5pm in meeting room 9.

      What does it cost?

The standard FIRST membership is $4.99 a month, or $19.99 every six months. As with Sponsorships, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial to see what it’s all about.

FIRST Double Gold memberships are $34.99 a month, or $179.99 every six months. You’re probably thinking, “DAAAMN!” but remember that this gets you $60+ in exclusive merch every month, in addition to the benefits of the standard FIRST membership – and more.

If you are an existing Sponsor before the switchover on 7/1, you are grandfathered into your current rate unless you make a change to your FIRST membership.

And as always, you can sign up for a free account to get a customizable profile, participate in community discussions, and set schedule reminders for shows.

What will FIRST members be called?

We’ll let you all figure that out for yourselves, but some people have grown fond of referring to FIRST members as “FIRSTies.” Some people named Barbara.

These questions and more are addressed in the all-new FIRST FAQ. Check it out.

Any other questions? I’m only a comment away. (And I’m really curious what the first comment is going to be…)

Thank you for helping us make Rooster Teeth what it is today. We’ve come a long way together, and with your support there’s no limit to what we can do next.

    • RT on VRV

*Updated Info as of April 2017*

When we first announced Rooster Teeth on VRV back in June 2016, the plan was to have bi-directional logins. However, that feature is taking a little longer than expected. At the moment, if you sign up for Premium access to the Rooster Teeth channel on VRV, you will not be a FIRST member, and will not be able to use those same credentials to sign in as a FIRST member on the Rooster Teeth site or apps. Additionally, if you're already a FIRST member, you cannot log into VRV with your existing Rooster Teeth credentials. The VRV team is currently working on account linking for Rooster Teeth FIRST, and we will announce that as soon as it is available for our community. For more information, check out our new FAQ for Rooster Teeth on VRV.

      June 14, 2016

You might have heard the news from E3 where Burnie helped announce VRV, a very cool new way to view Rooster Teeth content, which is coming out later this year, and launching first in the US. I wanted to take a minute to tell you why we decided to partner with them, and why this is such great news for all of us.

First and foremost, this will give everyone, especially Sponsors, a way to view all of the Rooster Teeth content you can currently access on our website and mobile apps on practically any platform – including game consoles. If you’re already a Rooster Teeth Sponsor, you will not have to pay anything additional to access Sponsor content this way.* It’s simply a new added benefit for you. You can log into Rooster Teeth on VRV using your existing Rooster Teeth username and password. Also, if you’re not a Sponsor yet, you can sign up for Rooster Teeth on VRV, and your new login information will then work directly on and our Rooster Teeth apps.* You will also be able to take advantage of the other Sponsor benefits on our website and store, such as access to livestreams and the 5% store discount. The logins are completely cross-compatible!* Now you’ll be able to access your favorite shows from all of RT on almost any device you can think of, and you get to keep all the other benefits of being a Sponsor.

Another reason we’re excited about VRV is because it gives us all a chance to discover more content from creators we all know and love, like Crunchyroll, Nerdist, and Geek & Sundry.

Last but certainly not least, being on VRV will allow our tech and engineering team more time to focus on improving the community experience on and our own apps, while still providing access to our content in all these other places where we all want to watch it. The ideal situation to me is you get to easily watch RT content like Day 5 on your TV through VRV, while you’re talking about it with the community on

So basically, just think of VRV as a portal through which you will be able to access the video portion of our website on almost any platform. I’m sure there will be questions, and I will try to answer them in the comments below, but here are a few answers just to get things started:

Q: Is VRV only for Rooster Teeth Sponsors?*

No, it’s available to everyone, including Sponsors. If you are a Sponsor, you get all the same video access on Rooster Teeth through VRV as you would directly through our website. If you are a regular user or public visitor, the content will be ad-supported on VRV just as it is on, and you won’t have access to the Sponsor exclusives, but you will have the option to change that by becoming a Sponsor through VRV or

Q: Will you still put your content on YouTube?

Yes, we will still put all of our non-Sponsor exclusive content on YouTube just as we always have. We don’t have any plans to change the release schedule, other than we will continue to make more new shows and increase the amount of content we produce overall, including free/ad-supported and Sponsor-exclusive. There will, of course, also continue to be special cases for individual projects, like Lazer Team, that work best being released in some entirely different way. Those projects will most likely be more movies.

Q: Does this mean you are abandoning development on and your apps?

No, this means we will have more time to focus on improving the community features of and our apps. VRV will be a great new way to access our videos, but we are still focused on making and our apps the best way to connect with the community.

Q: This is great! But where do you prefer that we support you? Should we become a Sponsor through VRV or directly on

This is entirely up to you. We so appreciate that so many people ask us this question whenever we branch out to a new outlet or platform, but we’re doing it to give you options and make things easier, not to make you feel conflicted about how to support us! If you love the content, we hope you will become involved in the community because it’s what really makes Rooster Teeth special, but no matter what, we thank you for supporting us in whatever way works best for you. We’re making content we love and we are thankful every day that we get to share it with the world.

I don't think there is much that can be said to convey the sadness and grief this loss evokes, but every word that is thoughtfully typed in this section is a testament to how much Monty will be missed.

Monty once wrote, "I believe that the human spirit is indomitable. If you endeavor to achieve, it will happen given enough resolve." An inspiring outlook that he himself embodied. He worked hard to make the world just a little bit more beautiful for everyone and we should learn from his example. We should take this tragedy to remember that we're all here to make the world a little better for everyone else.

Monty was a man to revere, admire and at times envy. His talent brought such incredible joy to those who were exposed to it. I can only lament over how I never had the opportunity to meet him, thinking that I could always do so if I bumped into him at one of the conventions we mutually attended.

HIs talent, grace and unique perspective on life can never be replaced. I'm sure I speak for everyone in the community, including intermittent attendees such as myself when I say that our hearts go out to his family and close friends.

We love you Monty and the world is better off for have known you.

      Hi Matt.

I'm so sorry that I'm late in saying this. I was too consumed by sorrow when the news hit Monday morning.

I've had nothing but respect for Monty; in his abilities, his determination, and in his creativity. He worked hard, believing in something he created. As a student of animation,I see him as an inspiration to study this field; an inspiration to create ground breaking worlds, much like he did with RWBY, though probably not of the same caliber of greatness RWBY had achieved with the fans. To hear that he passed away.... was soul shattering.

All I could think of during that dark Monday was figuring out how best to honor him. And this was the best I could do. Still... I only wish I could have done more. In spite of this, what I have learned from Monty was that the dreams we wish to achieve die if no determination, resolve, and passion is behind it. And I refuse to give up in what I wish to achieve, just as he did.

Thank you, Monty... you have lit the inspirational torches of the creative minds of this tight community, and you are immortalized in our minds.May you rest in paradise.

Monty's work is amazing, and I am very grateful that my son found him and the entire Rooster Teeth Community. You have inspired him to choose a path in animation, his biggest dream, which came in tie only with meeting all of you, especially Monty, one day.. I created an account today to express my appreciation for Monty and your crew and the inspiration you all bring to so many around the world. Your community, though almost entirely virtual, is a strong-knit one, and Monty's loss will be felt deeply.

To an amazing artist, Monty ~ you inspired many in your too few years. Trust you will not be forgotten.

Hey Matt, do you think the new RT location can be titled as the Monty office?

I feel like its the least to do considering he won't be able to see it, that and Monty's name is kinda synonymous for dedication to creativity which I feel is what Roosterteeth has always been.

      With regards, Lukin109

Monty brought us some of the most Kick Ass pieces of animation ever to exist on the Inter-webs. Let is honor his memory and celebrate his life and accomplishments. May god bless his family and friends and help them through this difficult time of morning and I hope that they can find solace in the fact that he left such an impression on thousands of people and lived his life to the fullest. And may Rooster Teeth carry on his legacy and continue making kick ass animations.

I've said my RIPs so now instead I say:

Where do I even begin, with such a pillar of the RT community. He was such an inspiration to not me, but to his colleagues, family, and hundreds of fans. He was an amazing animator, a powerhouse mind behind RWBY and RVB. I think of how such a silly thing could have killed such an amazing man, and it also a shame he died in his youth. I am not a believer in heaven, but I truly hope Monty goes to heaven. I truly hope his works carry on his legacy, and I know the community will. I think every February 1st, people living close to the RT office should leave roses in front of it, as a reminder of this grim loss. Everyone settles for mediocracy... Not Monty. Monty was that rare quality man.

This sounds odd... But... I had a dream... Where Monty flying through the cosmos, happy as ever... He might actually be doing that.

I leave this here, with a heavy heart and pouring tears,
Rest in Peace, Monty Oum. We love you.

You know, I never really personally knew that much about Monty, all I knew is that he was a great animator that worked extensively on RWBY. Now I'm a gigantic follower of Roosterteeth and Achievement Hunter alike, but I hadn't really realized how big until Monty's passing. When I had read the news it literally made me shake and feel genuinely sad, but regardless I send my dearest condolences to all his family and friends.

CEO Hullum, Monty Oum was a legendary person, and will be remembered as such by those who witnessed his work. He was the director for Rooster Teeth's first anime series, RWBY after all. My question for you sir is this: Does Rooster Teeth plan to continue the production of its and Monty Oum's shared Legacy, RWBY? As a fan, I would love nothing more than to see such a gem continue, all the way to the epic finish Monty Oum had envisioned for the RWBY series. Whatever the case, the man known as Monty Oum was a great animator, and I wish his family and coworkers the best in light of this tragedy.

Monty was a HUGE inspiration for me! i second the motion to make some sort of an annual day for which we remember such an influence in our lives. ever since i first saw "Haloid" wayyyyyy back, ive always been watching for what he was gonna do next! not to mention how his heart shined through on his works! after watching almost everything he's done, its clear to see he had a heart of gold! My wishes to his family and friends, and I know I'm not the only one who can say that he will forever be immortalized in my heart!!!

This was an unexpected loss for us all. I will do a couple things in memory of your name Monty. 1: i will make sure the anime fandom on ifunny is aware of this tragedy. And 2: i will marathon RWBY and bring its genius to others.

Thank you Monty for your time on this earth.
      you will be remembered

Dear Monty Oum, we have never met in person, yet I feel such a strong connection to you. Even now, I lament at your passing. The gift you gave everyone, your vision, your voice. The light you crafted in the colors of a rainbow. Will forever be a catalyst of change in my own life. You, who nurtured each character as if planting a flower. You, who weaved stories of myth and mystery. The world has suffered greatly, because of your passing, we may never know your true vision. We may have never met, but I knew you. Your creation touched me and gave me my own vision. For that, I thank you. I will miss you. I shudder at just how grey this would will be without you.

I do believe this can be considered creative.
But then I am not merely creative, but ambitious as well.

There are those that shine brightly, their lives but brief echoes in time. They leave us all too soon and we wonder why they have left us so quickly.

When I first saw Monty Oum, I was watching a video called Haloid. An awesome fusion of Metroid and Halo, I thought. The animation was well done and I loved the action. The next video I saw was dead fantasy 1 & 2 with all of my favorite characters from both games in it. There was also RWBY, an awesome series but none of that matters now. A spark has gone out of the universe and all that I can say is that I will miss this guy even though I did not know him personally.

Monty Oum. Another hero I'll never meet. Another creator that i'll never truly know. He is mourned by friend, family, and fan. I know that his memory will endure in the hearts and minds of all that knew him and knew of him. May he truly live forever and that we all draw inspiration from the life he led and his legacy, and may we all smile in honor of his memory.

A little tribute to Monty Oum. He was the main reason I started animating in the first place. This was the very least I could do...

I'm not really good with words when it comes to difficult times like these. I didn't want to let it go by without comment though. My kids and I have spent a lot of hours being entertained by Monty's work.

Thank you, Monty. You will be missed.

As a tribute to Monty, you guys should try to aim to close up his Dead Fantasy series. Last I recall he really wanted to complete it but was, as you know well enough, too busy to do it.

I feel that'd be a good way to pay respect towards him (other than what tribute you might have planned for him via RWBY, which should be great as well.)

I was thinking of trying to get as much of the community as possible to follow you and take up the image of Monty Oum to honour him.
But alas, I don't even have any friends on the site, nor am I part of any community.
I looked up to Monty a lot; he was the reason I first got interested in many things such as animation and 3D modeling.
I am sure that others in the community feel as I do and want to do something to remember.

They say one who which all trades is not very loved, but i want to believed this is not so true. I believe some fans even cry as i did. Because this man was a good reason to keep living, he make me/us smile everyday with his creations and some say that´s not a lot,but (at least for me ) he always make me feel happy when i was in the worst mood, and that´s all we needed he was our friend even if he didn´t know it and we will miss him, always.

Only a year older than I, it's a shame to hear of such a loss. His work was truly amazing, from Haloid to RWBY and his contributions to the gaming community will be sadly missed. My sympathies and best wishes to his friends and family.
Thank you for some great times and spectacular sights, Monty.

It is such a terrible thing to see the life of such a brilliant mind cut so short. Monty was an artist of the likes that only occurs once every few generations. He was truly a revolutionary in modern animation and will be greatly missed. Today, the world lost one of its best, and God is welcoming home one of his greatest creations.

why must the good die young? Monty was one of my favorite people on the roosterteeth team. I wish him and his family well. I'm not one to cry but I did shed a tear when I heard the news. He created RWBY which is my series and i hate to see someone with such a creative mind die. Wherever he is now I hope it's better than here. Rest in peace Monty, You will be missed.

Sorry I meant to say my favorite series, not my series. I didn't create the series, Monty did. Sorry I had to make such a big deal over simple wording, I'm kind of a grammar nazi.

Monty was God's gift to animation. He was a remarkable individual, and an inspiration to thousands of dedicated fans. I never met Monty in person, but he was an inspiration to me and is the reason I've chosen the career path I am on. He is and will always be my hero. You shone brightly, and broken wings would never keep you down. You have been lifted up. And you are there. You will be deeply missed.

Death has never bothered me, I've never been emotional about family or people I've known passing away. I've always thought I was just messed up for some reason.

I never watched RWBY and haven't followed RED VS BLUE in a long time but, I realize how talented Monty was, I respect him more than most just for his sheer, raw talent.

I can honestly say, his passing has affected me in a way I've never really felt before. My sincerest condolences go out to his friends, family, and those who knew him.

I've never really been a believer in heaven or hell but, I do hope, for his sake, that there is something after this life because NOBODY with as much raw talent and potential should cease to exist so soon; in this life, nor the next.
