And that's a wrap for my Chrono Trigger gifs.

      ...Or is it??

I'm looking forward to using all these new tricks and assets in my next project. ;)

This week's gif is a cursed swordsman.

      tpc-frog1b.gif

Frog's not my favorite party member, but it's hard not to like the guy, either. He's the underdog knight with a heart of gold and a little green chip on his shoulder. His techs were badass, the Masamune was badass, his character arc was badass, and, well--as everyone I've shown this gif to so far has remarked, he's "cute." Must be those big beautiful frog-eyes, right?

On the Blender side of things, I learned about halo flares! Neat.

Cheers to @ROKU117 for the question and @Ember for loaning me her handwriting. Mmm, pink cursive.

A buddy on Discord didn't fail to link me this video a while ago, explaining how basically the Halo games are fucking impossible, and that an actual firefight would be a poignant moment of hilarity before the wayward bullets friendly-fired everyone to death.

Then a patron linked me to TV Tropes, always a favorite rabbit-hole of mine. Ring worlds, fascinating stuff.

Of course, whenever I think of objects falling from the sky to kill people, I always remember the tragically short-lived Dead Like Me.

Immediately following Thanksgiving, Black Friday is a dedicated block of time when shops mark down merchandise to wholesale prices in order to lure herds of gullible customers into a violent, frenzied stampede, and force embattled retail employees to clean up after their swath of greed-inspired destruction.

For one thing, these character studies are fun. I also use each one to test a new idea or technique. In this gif's case I learned quite a few things, but in particular how to animate bezier curves to make slashy-slashies.

Duncan looks so warm and real, even though it's a cartoon-style drawing

Thank you ^u^ I think that's partly the contrast with the old picture, but also I was really trying to give him a solid look, the right shading goes a long way when doing that too.

Yes, I went with the pointy ears, but I've made them a bit less... horrible looking that that last sketch I posted smiley4.gif I'll post some side-on pictures soon (hopefully) that'll show how they look now.

Pants. Pants is a better example and it doesn't make me seem pedantic! An English person says "pants", they mean underpants, an American person says "pants" they mean trousers, it can lead to confusion.

There's more: Mongoose War, Meerkat Cart (love the muskrat in that one) Interview

I think we're both thinking of a different bird. My bad.

      I assume you were thinking:
      turkey-vulture-12a.jpg
      American turkey vulture.

      Whereas I always think of:
      Buzzard_SteppeJuv19067pa.jpg
      European common buzzard hawk.

It's a little bit like American buffalo are actually bison, except more non-Americas know about the buffalo thing because of the cowboy films.

I have seriously never seen those adverts before. The weird thing is, that's an American advert, and Geckos are South-American, so why does he have an English accent?

Still, for some reason the Meerkat was Russian. Although that was explained in another advert.

I have one of Chris Hart's other books, "How To Draw Comic Book Heroes and Villains" -- which is a brilliant guide for all the basics with tips on drawing action poses, perspective, backgrounds, heroic and villainous traits, even different types of "love interest" character, but I don't have any others. I'm thinking of getting one of his Cutting Edge Comics range and the furry one.

      Why a buzzard?

    • DocRossim

Half of my comment somehow got cut off after I posted it, I think it's a site bug.

The rest of what I wrote was:
Generalised familiar terms like Dude/Mate and Chook I'm fine with.

Also, it wasn't your message that started me off -- or at least not just your message, it's something I've been restraining myself from saying in comments for a while now. I felt like journalling about it would be better since it's not directed at any one person.

Speaking of your message, you did a wonderful job on Roy, absolutely fantastic, thankyou for that smiley0.gif
You should totally post it on Deviant Art and submit it to the DragonsRule-Club. Also, may I add it to my R.T. gallery?

      Also:
How are you? What have you been up to lately?

I don't think my username's origins are a secret, they're just not widely known. I think I answered that question about the username in a journal at some point, there's probably a link to it in my header.

I always feel friendlier using my first name, it takes the edge off, and first names without surnames are still fairly anonymous, but I can respect the other point of view too. I've always associated nicknames with negativity anyway, on account of mine tended to be those used by my school bullies.
Generalised terms like Dude/Mate/Chook are fine though. Even a pet name like "Rossy" isn't so bad. I think being away from the site for eight months changed my view a bit too, especially since just before I left I had an argument about hiding behind facades with a certain user whose first name I'd used in an attempt to show I was being serious about something and who took offense at me using it...
Also, I like me first name, it's a good name, it was given much thought.

Incidentally, it wasn't your message that started me off on this, not just your message anyway, it had been building up for a while.

Speaking of which, your take on Roy looked fantastic smiley0.gif you totally need to upload that to DragonsRule-Club on DeviantArt.
Would it be okay if I put it up in my R.T. gallery too?

Let's stop talking about me now. How are you? What have you been up to lately?

    • DocRossim

I know, there's two esses there! and that's only because I thought three esses was overdoing it (Ross-sim. It was for Sims2.com. I was a teenager.)
Ironically enough it was one of my best and oldest friends here that used to do that (Amarh).

      Anyway
I take it you're fine with Myshu?

    • DocRossim

Thanks, that would be very much appreciated. I'm not totally sure why it irritates me so much, it's just... one of those things, and people seem to be calling me "Doc" a lot recently.
Partly it annoys me because people assume I've got "Doc" in my username because of the character, and people tend to mispronounce the "rossim" part as "roe-sim" for some reason, but I think it's also because I don't want to just become a username (think "The Prisoner" -- I am not a number, I am a free man). It was one of a number of reasons that I moved my Deviant Art page last year (also, using my own name looks more professional and I also wanted a fresh start).

I actually prefer to use a person's real name if I can, it feels friendlier, but I understand that some people prefer anonymity, and I can respect that.

I am unaware of the quality of Hannah's cooking skills but I wouldn't put it past her. Vidas could provide the baking... but it would be cooked a bit too much on one side smiley4.gif

I doubt I'd ever find anyone who'd pay me to draw video game fan-comics all day (Luke is one lucky and talented dude!)

I see your point... but I would argue that you are pretty darn talented (I would say a little moreso than Luke in fact), you just didn't get Luke's lucky break.
