Every once in a while, a fan’s story stops me in my tracks. The picture and description @butwevegotheart sent in for Merch Monday did just that. Here’s what she had to say.
I normally wouldn't feel comfortable doing this, but why not. This is me wearing my X-Ray shirt and Achievement Hunter bracelet. I've had both of them for at least a year now.
The reason that my X-Ray shirt is my favorite piece of Rooster Teeth merch that I've gotten is 1) it's super comfortable, 2) I love the color, 3) I always have people asking me about it when I wear it, which gives me the opportunity to tell people about RT, and 4) I was and still am a huge fan of Ray's.
The reason that I love my Achievement Hunter bracelet goes a little deeper than that. I have major depression, anxiety, and social anxiety disorder. I discovered Achievement Hunter and Rooster Teeth about three years ago now, and Achievement Hunter's content has gotten me through a lot of very rough days since then. Even when I just don't feel like laughing, they have never failed to make me do just that, and I'm always grateful for it. Any time I have a bad day with my depression or anxiety, I know putting on one of their videos will make me feel a little better and take my mind off of how I'm feeling, and it always does. Wearing that bracelet is like a little reminder for me when I look at it that even though I'm feeling terrible at that moment, it isn't permanent, and things can and will get better. Rooster Teeth and Achievement Hunter just make me very happy, so wearing any of my merch and supporting you guys by buying it – whether it's my X-Ray shirt, or my bracelet, or my Free Play shirt, or my Team Lads/Gents shirts, etc. – is the least I can do as a thank you.
Thank YOU for sharing your special story. It is an honor to put a smile on your face.
