Hey Matt! Loved Lazer Team, but I was an $125 backer with the signed copy, and my DVD only had one signature on it. Is that expected? You guys also missed my name in the credits :( Too busy for me?

      Answered: Feb 3, 2016

Yes, that's how we did all the DVDs. The credits was a perk that started at $300. Hope that clears confusion. Thanks for backing!

    • ShotgunWoman asked matt a question

Will the unrated version of Lazer Team be released at some point, or at least the scenes that were edited to have the movie remain PG-13? The unrated scene in Gavin's mind was phenomenal.

      Answered: Feb 3, 2016

Probably but I don't know when yet. Thanks!

Lazer Team coming to theaters this January!

One year ago we started principal photography on our first feature length film, Lazer Team. It’s been a labor of love for all of us at Rooster Teeth, and we’ve been inspired and driven by the unbelievable support of our community to make it the best damn movie we possibly could.

Today we’re happy to let you know that Lazer Team will be available in theaters January 27, 2016! Physical and digital copies of Lazer Team will be distributed to our amazing Indiegogo backers at the same time.

There’s a lot more great news to come, including an exciting partnership on a huge digital platform we’ll be announcing very soon. So stay tuned.

The entire Rooster Teeth community has done so much to make this movie happen, and in the months to come we are going to be calling on you once again. We need you to get the word out about how, when and where to see the movie. Your response to our record-breaking Indiegogo campaign exceeded our expectations, and we’ve tried our hardest to make sure the movie exceeds yours. We’re excited for you to be able to share it with your friends and family as something we can all be proud of having made possible together.

      what a week!

It's been a great week already and RTX hasn't even started yet. We've been having a ton of fun doing ADR (dialog replacement) and visual effects for Lazer Team, we got a sweet new 3D printer, finalized a lot of awesome videos for this weekend, and my wife just put the last touches on some super cute RWBY cosplay outfits for our kids. (They are going to own the show floor! Deal with it.) Also, importantly, my friend @gstrompolos publicly reconfirmed our company's commitment to valuing creators and working hard to make sense of the complicated world of IP rights.

But best of all Marcus got us a Penny Press for RTX y'all. 4 designs - gotta catch 'em all.

      See you this weekend!

      Monty Oum has passed away

Our friend, inspiration and co-worker Monty Oum passed away yesterday afternoon at 4:34 PM surrounded by people who loved him very much. Ten days ago Monty suffered a severe allergic reaction during a simple medical procedure that left him in a coma. Although he fought bravely, his body was not able to recover. During his time in the hospital he was well cared for and never in pain at any time.

Monty is survived by his wife Sheena, his father Mony, his brothers Woody, Sey, Chivy and Neat, and his sisters Thea and Theary, as well as a countless number of fans and friends. We were so proud to be a part of his life and we will miss him greatly.

Your generosity during the hours after the public statement on Friday will help his family deal with the costs of his care and his passing. You made an incredible difference during a difficult time and we cannot thank you enough.

As for honoring Monty, we will do that in our own way. In lieu of flowers or gifts, we ask that you simply do something creative. Use your imagination to make the world a better place in any way that you can. If you know Monty like we do, then you know he would certainly be doing that if he were able to.

      Monty was 33 years old.

      We love you, Monty.

      Matt,
I spoke to you regarding the song I wrote, "The Ballad of the Infamous 535". This is a better version than the one you were given. (I started re-recording it shortly after I sent a copy to Chelsea) It's still not as polished as some of my other recordings, but its nature as a old-style folk tune allows for such roughness until I finally have a reason to redo it. https://soundcloud.com/brianfischer-2/the-ballad-of-the-infamous-535-demo

      Hope you enjoy the music!

Hey Matt. I have a few things to say/ask.

      1. RTX was so awesome and a blast! I hope I can make it next year. (And maybe get a VIP pass or be a Guardian (Props to those people for making RTX so amazing and run smoother than I thought) and arriving in Austin at least 2 days before and leaving the day after or 2 days after RTX because I missed so much sidequest fun and I kind of wanted to discover the city more).

      2. I was wondering what will happen to the Monty Memorial now since RTX is now over. I am not sure I heard what would happen to it.

      Hi Matt!

I have a question for you about food, odd though it may be. You see I am a chef, and have noticed that since you've moved to your new location you don't have a cafe or some such to sustain you all throughout the day. I know, only normal human beings need survive on more than booze and rice crispy treats. However, I wanted to know if you had plans to create an in-house spot for chow?

Hey, my name is Jack Rivera as you can see by my user name, I know what I'm going to ask may seem like a lot but I was wondering if it would be okay to get a slowed down animation of crescent rose transforming so that I can make a hand made plastic model version of it to be put on to a 1/100 MG Deathscythe Gundam that will be on display with three other Gundams that will look like the RWBY characters with Beacon as their background?

Hey Matt. I was wondering if the RT store will ever be selling the "Official Japanese RWBY Fanbook" again, at the time it was being sold in the RT store I did not have the money to buy one and also it was sold out by the time I had some money and then it was gone from the store.

Why doesn't Doctor Emily Gray fix Lopez's voice box.

How about if Church said that to like Simons and Simons tries to tell Sarge who ignores him and then 'comes up with the idea himself'. Then what if when she did, Lopez sounded like Church, then everyone was really creeped out and Lopez says a shit load of really mean stuff to all the reds that Sarge will just blame on the Blues. Then Doc Gray turns the Spanish back on. Just think of the funny possibilities.

      Matt,
You may not read this but there is a girl in Rhode Island that is a huge fan of all things RT. Last year she was diagnosed with chronic Lyme Disease and has been unable to do the things a normal girl should be able to do. Tomorrow, Wednesday May 13, is her 16th birthday. She will not be able to celebrate it as she should due to her disease. Furthermore, tomorrow she will begin using IV bags that will make her feel like she has the flu. I have talked very briefly with her and she asked me to contact you to thank you (for what exact purpose I do not know), and said to ask for a temporary follow on Twitter @Lindsey_Clark11 or a friend request on this site. Her RT username is lindsey_11. What I am trying to do with this message is make her tomorrows featured user, but I don't know if I'm too late to make that deadline. I encourage you to please read the rest of her story as she said it on her Tumblr loserwithlyme.tumblr.com/

I have a problem with the RT Store, but it wouldn't let me contact shop owner. I didn't know if you were the person to talk to or not, but if you aren't, would you mind letting me know who it is I should talk to. I am trying to track my order progress, but for whatever reason, it won't let me. I'm clicking the order number, but nothing happens. Hey Matt, I received the Lazer Team update email today and the announcement of Melbourne to be the premier international city. If I may make a suggestion, the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) is on between July 30th and August 16th. MIFF has a film market attached to it, assuming you will have this regions distribution through Hanabee, it might pay off to enter into the festival to attract attention of other region distributers.

When I say any kind of position I mean any thing I would be happy being the coffee boy for the whole office being payed two dollars a day and I am not exaggerating at all about the coffee boy thing. I know you probably wont care but I just want to leave El paso and put every thing here behind me. I feel like if I stay here I am just going to end up in a dead end job at some fast food place unhappy and just wanting to end it all, But if there was any way that I could work for rooster teeth then I wouldnt be happier. In short I am willing to drop every thing in my life to work for your company in any way shape or form possible at all.

      Sincerely,
      Taran Hunter Worrell.

P.S. I understand that this is a short message but i mean every thing I have said above and I truly hope that you get this. and thank you if you do. also my email is [email protected] if you do wish to reply to this message then please use that email. I had tried to message you but seeing as you are only accepting messages from friends i feel that this is the next best course of action.

Dear Crew, I've watched things that Monty has been making since I was 14. Which was a while ago, anyhow, I just want to let everyone know that I am praying for His wife and family. This is truly devastating.
There truly is nothing that can describe the pain and loss of a loved one.
I really felt like I knew Monty personally though I never met the man. I will miss him very dearly. My deepest sympathies to his family.
I'm so so sorry for your loss. Mr. Oum was a creative guru and I could see that he was an amazing friend.
      God bless.

I don't think there is much that can be said to convey the sadness and grief this loss evokes, but every word that is thoughtfully typed in this section is a testament to how much Monty will be missed.

Monty once wrote, "I believe that the human spirit is indomitable. If you endeavor to achieve, it will happen given enough resolve." An inspiring outlook that he himself embodied. He worked hard to make the world just a little bit more beautiful for everyone and we should learn from his example. We should take this tragedy to remember that we're all here to make the world a little better for everyone else.

Monty was a man to revere, admire and at times envy. His talent brought such incredible joy to those who were exposed to it. I can only lament over how I never had the opportunity to meet him, thinking that I could always do so if I bumped into him at one of the conventions we mutually attended.

HIs talent, grace and unique perspective on life can never be replaced. I'm sure I speak for everyone in the community, including intermittent attendees such as myself when I say that our hearts go out to his family and close friends.

We love you Monty and the world is better off for have known you.

      Hi Matt.

I'm so sorry that I'm late in saying this. I was too consumed by sorrow when the news hit Monday morning.

I've had nothing but respect for Monty; in his abilities, his determination, and in his creativity. He worked hard, believing in something he created. As a student of animation,I see him as an inspiration to study this field; an inspiration to create ground breaking worlds, much like he did with RWBY, though probably not of the same caliber of greatness RWBY had achieved with the fans. To hear that he passed away.... was soul shattering.

All I could think of during that dark Monday was figuring out how best to honor him. And this was the best I could do. www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/605365 Still... I only wish I could have done more. In spite of this, what I have learned from Monty was that the dreams we wish to achieve die if no determination, resolve, and passion is behind it. And I refuse to give up in what I wish to achieve, just as he did.

Thank you, Monty... you have lit the inspirational torches of the creative minds of this tight community, and you are immortalized in our minds.May you rest in paradise.

Monty's work is amazing, and I am very grateful that my son found him and the entire Rooster Teeth Community. You have inspired him to choose a path in animation, his biggest dream, which came in tie only with meeting all of you, especially Monty, one day.. I created an account today to express my appreciation for Monty and your crew and the inspiration you all bring to so many around the world. Your community, though almost entirely virtual, is a strong-knit one, and Monty's loss will be felt deeply.

To an amazing artist, Monty ~ you inspired many in your too few years. Trust you will not be forgotten.

Hey Matt, do you think the new RT location can be titled as the Monty office?

I feel like its the least to do considering he won't be able to see it, that and Monty's name is kinda synonymous for dedication to creativity which I feel is what Roosterteeth has always been.

      With regards, Lukin109

-plays the "Never Forget" Track from Halo 3-

Monty brought us some of the most Kick Ass pieces of animation ever to exist on the Inter-webs. Let is honor his memory and celebrate his life and accomplishments. May god bless his family and friends and help them through this difficult time of morning and I hope that they can find solace in the fact that he left such an impression on thousands of people and lived his life to the fullest. And may Rooster Teeth carry on his legacy and continue making kick ass animations.

I've said my RIPs so now instead I say:
NEVER FORGET MONTY MOTHER FUCKING OUM!!!!

Where do I even begin, with such a pillar of the RT community. He was such an inspiration to not me, but to his colleagues, family, and hundreds of fans. He was an amazing animator, a powerhouse mind behind RWBY and RVB. I think of how such a silly thing could have killed such an amazing man, and it also a shame he died in his youth. I am not a believer in heaven, but I truly hope Monty goes to heaven. I truly hope his works carry on his legacy, and I know the community will. I think every February 1st, people living close to the RT office should leave roses in front of it, as a reminder of this grim loss. Everyone settles for mediocracy... Not Monty. Monty was that rare quality man.

This sounds odd... But... I had a dream... Where Monty flying through the cosmos, happy as ever... He might actually be doing that.

I leave this here, with a heavy heart and pouring tears,
Rest in Peace, Monty Oum. We love you.
      Never forget.

You know, I never really personally knew that much about Monty, all I knew is that he was a great animator that worked extensively on RWBY. Now I'm a gigantic follower of Roosterteeth and Achievement Hunter alike, but I hadn't really realized how big until Monty's passing. When I had read the news it literally made me shake and feel genuinely sad, but regardless I send my dearest condolences to all his family and friends.

      R.I.P.
      We love you Monty

CEO Hullum, Monty Oum was a legendary person, and will be remembered as such by those who witnessed his work. He was the director for Rooster Teeth's first anime series, RWBY after all. My question for you sir is this: Does Rooster Teeth plan to continue the production of its and Monty Oum's shared Legacy, RWBY? As a fan, I would love nothing more than to see such a gem continue, all the way to the epic finish Monty Oum had envisioned for the RWBY series. Whatever the case, the man known as Monty Oum was a great animator, and I wish his family and coworkers the best in light of this tragedy.
