      Hey everyone,

So I've been really quiet on the site for the last few months. This has been because of a lot of things. One being the site isn't what it used to be. I'm sure everyone knows how sociable the site used to be and since it's update, it's just so hard to communicate and see what everyone's up to.

The second being that I've moved on to some newer projects. I'm getting back into coding, something I loved doing in college, video work is picking up again and I'm creating content for my own channel. I'd say throughout my time on the site, my main contribution was the AH Community Channel. I produced a video that made it in the Top 5 Community Videos, had my own series, and got a shoutout from Jeremy on an AHWU. Little things like that will always stick with me as some of my best memories from being on the site. But a lot of things have changed, both with my personal interests and otherwise, so I've decided to focus more on creating content for myself. I started a YouTube channel with my girlfriend back in May called BitBytes and we've been having a lot of fun with it since. If you'd like, feel free to check it out! Still, being a contributor to the AH Community Channel helped me grow so much as a creator and I'll always be grateful for that.

YouTube and the Rooster Teeth network is still my go to source for entertainment, nothing has changed there and with the amazing additions to the Lets Play family, I'll always be watching and enjoying content. I just wanted to post why I've been so absent on here lately. There's always a chance the site will revive and I'll become much more active again, but for now, I'm focusing on a lot of other promising things that need all of my attention.

So thanks, if somehow you got this far. Feel free to keep up with our shenanigans over on BitBytes and good luck to everything you guys go after in the future! See you later!

I'm excited. I think with the way AH is going about running the re-launched channel will have a large impact on the type of content created by the community in the future. Some older series will be limited or even cut, but with that comes a bunch of new, interesting options for submissions. Remixes, Animation, Speed Art.. It opens up the aspect of contributing to a wider audience and over everything else, will push CREATORS to be CREATIVE.

I'm excited to make stuff, and I'm excited to see what you all make.

I posted a picture of my RT/AH/FH Merch on twitter just now for Merch March, so I figured I'd share my current collection with you guys. Not pictured is an RT cup that's seemed to have gone missing, the periodic table of RT Poster since I don't have anymore wall space and a few decals I used for an old car. I have an addiction.

I just finished Firewatch on Steam. If you have $20, a PS4 or decent PC and 4 hours to kill, go give it a shot.

From what I know, this is Developer Campo Santo's first title, although they have backgrounds in studios like Telltale, amazing storytellers, which is exactly what Firewatch does. It tells an amazing story.

In Firewatch, you're not doing quicktime events, or trying to beat a clock, or boss, or score. You sit and experience a story. You get hit hard from the very start, putting together your personal backstory and witnessing some very real experiences that land the player where they are in the game. From there on out you just kind of let things happen. You're still in control, free to explore, but ultimately, you're going to watch stuff happen. But they happen fast and things get crazy.

My stomach was in my throat for 90% of this game. Is that the expression? Well, that's what it felt like. I'm not going to give anything away, just that it's a wild ride.

The game does such a great job at putting you in real situations people could experience through the dialogue options. I even saw a warning before purchasing that it is an adult game with adult conversations. (Nothing like that) the game is just REAL.

The presentation was on point. Everything from Landscapes to Audio Editing and Visual Cuts added so much to the story. Music would kick in at certain points and I would be reminded of how music was emphasized in Red Dead Redemption. Or how you progress the story seemed so much like scenes in The Last of Us when you would cut to a new season (Although Firewatch spans a single Summer.) To get these little AAA experiences out of an Indie Dev, yet still have it retain it's Indie charm is something special.

I think anyone who enjoys the narrative side of games will really enjoy Firewatch.

I didn't expect to write this little review and it's 4 am, so it probably seems like a rambling mess, but I always try to get out my thoughts someway after finishing a game, maybe I'll start doing it here.

Also, I played Firewatch coming directly off of my first run through of Undertale. I am numb.

    • New Community Hunter Video!

Hey Guys, Nick and I are back from a little hiatus (real world work and all that nonsense) with a new Community Hunter Video!

We decided to table the pilot we mentioned in the past for the time being. It ended up being super ambitious for what little time we have to spare these days. Thank you to everyone who submitted clips. They were awesome and I had fun putting them together for the pilot, even though we ultimately decided to hold off.

We're always working on ideas though, so something cool may come in the future =)

As for regular CH Videos, we're going to try to schedule things to where we can make batches at a time to release content consistently. I've said it in the past that the CH Channel is a really great tool for communicating and growing your skills as a content creator and that's something I never want to lose touch of. Always try to keep bettering yourself, it pays off in the end!

But as for now, feel free to check out our newest video! Thanks guys!

Hope everyone's had a good start to 2016!

I'm still hard at work getting the pilot to the new Community series all finished up, balancing that with the real world can be a bit difficult at times, but expect it soon!

I spent the first half of 2015 finishing up my degree and the last half in the real world, finding freelance work while waiting for a more permanent opening in media. Luckily I've been fortunate with freelance videography & editing, and it's kept me busy, but I feel like the rate at which I've been going, 2016 will bring me a more a steady position.

I have some big ideas I'm looking forward to setting in motion, along with continuing to work hard at what I want to get out of life. I'm excited, and I hope everyone has a great year!

    • Pilot for a new Community Hunter series. Need your help!

      AndyF

Hi Everyone! It's really been a while. Graduating college has brought on some new challenges and I've been doing some local video work to get by, but having a great time while doing it.

As some of you may remember, about a year ago I created a short lived series on the Communty Hunter channel called Smash Spotlight. It featured a character from Super Smash Brothers every week. It was a blast to make, but unfortunately with Nintendo's YouTube policy, I had to move on from it. So I took some time off to focus on finishing up my Senior year of college, then came finding some work. But I really want to get back into the Community Hunters. It's helped me so much over the years as a content creator and I'm not done with it yet. So I had an idea I'd been kicking around for a while and it recently got approved for a pilot!

The series is going to be called "Record That" and will rely heavily on community involvement to succeed. That's where you guys come in!

So essentially, Record That is going to be a clip show, where every episode, my co-host Nick (returning from Smash Spotlight and just about every video I've made) and I will complete a challenge given to one another in the previous episode. The challenges can range from funny to interesting to epic. But it's not just us. We're opening up the challenges to anyone who would like to participate! Using either a capture device or one of the next gen systems, you can submit clips that will be featured on the show! Then the audience will decide who won that episodes challenge.

      Sound cool? I think so.

So here's the thing. We've been hard at work planning this out while we balance everything else in our lives. We want to do some interesting stuff with this series that hasn't been seen before. And we're ready to announce the first challenge.

The first challenge is: Die in the Worst Way Possible.

Got sniped by a Mini-Nuke? Sticky Grenade tag the tip of your gun? Maybe Lara Crofts face snagged a tree branch going down a river? Either way, record that and submit it to us!

Deadline for submissions is December 1st.

Wondering how to submit? Try these methods!:

      Xbox One:

      • -If you own Kinect, simply say "Xbox, Record That" after you feel you've completed the challenge. If you don't own Kinect, you can double tap the home button and press X to record a clip.
      • -Find your clip in Upload Studio, trim it to your liking and upload it through the app.
      • -Comment below with your gamertag and the name of your clip, I will find and collect them after the deadline.
      • -You can also upload your clip to Onedrive, then you can take the file and upload it to YouTube and comment below with a link to your video, if you'd like to submit that way.

      PS4:

      • -I don't own a PS4, so if someone could clarify that would be awesome. But I believe after you share a clip on PS4 you have the option to upload to YouTube. Comment below with a link to your video.

      Capture Devices and PC:

      • -Capture the footage, trim your clip and upload to YouTube.
      • -Comment below with a link to your video. No Watermarks Please!

If the show gets picked up and I can get a instructional video on how to submit clips approved, you can bet your sweet bottoms I will make one for the channel.

I have a feeling this could be a great addition to the Achievement Hunter Community. We're trying a few new things that I'm sure will be made apparent when the show premieres. Anyone who's had an AHWU intro, or Fail of the Weak submission chosen knows how awesome of a feeling that can be. I'd like to make something like that, but on a smaller level for the AH Community. There's a chance this show could turn into something great and it will all be thanks to you!

Get recording, and we'll see you in the premiere!

      Hey guys,

As many of you probably saw from this weeks AHWU, the guys are doing an awesome contest where the community can remix a video of Ryan going down a slide. I decided to jump right on it, but tried taking my video in a different direction. I had a lot of fun working on this, hopefully you guys and even the AH Crew can get a laugh out it.

You can find the video here. Enjoy!

Fun Fact: Jak and Daxter is my favorite game. I grew up playing them in elementary school, I've played through the HD collection on PS3, I'm even working through the bug infested Vita version. And if Jak 4 was ever announced, I'd buy a PS4 the next day. This piece is 1 of 500 made and is hands down my favorite / the best piece in my collection of gaming memorabilia. So yeah, I have a pretty awesome girlfriend smiley1.gif
