It's Only Been Two Months!...since my last post here. Lately I've begun to feel the atrophy of my writing fingers. The most I seem to write, of late, are quick bursts of pop culture geekery or updates on my so-cute-as-to-become-sickening children. The oldest one is currently running around in a wide circle - from the kitchen to the hallway to the living room and back again, stopping only now and again to roll a car in a seemingly random direction for no apparent purpose other than the fact that "it rolls!"

The itch is coming back. It laid low for a while letting the roughly 512MB of RAM my brain came standard with burn with more important things; my family, my job, teaching Sunday School, attending to the small and large joys and pains of those I love. Those things haven't gone away and they are still of the utmost importance. Maybe I received a memory upgrade at some point.
The point is this: I actually wrote something. Something that I didn't have to write, but wanted and needed to. It was an idea that I wanted to explore and so I did... in two short pages. In fact, if I'm not careful, this post will eclipse its word count. So, to keep that from happening, I present, for your judgement, a short story... that's kind of about my home town. Certainly my home county. Also... POST APOCALYPSE!!?!
To quote my favorite undead band, I hope you hate it.*
SerpentsAs something I found to be really cool, if you're a user of Google Chrome and a Kindle, I just discovered an app that can quickly and simply convert text from the web and send it directly to your Kindle. It's free in the Chrome Store and is the top hit if you search for Kindle - "
Send to Kindle." I did so for this particular short story. It's really neat to see something I wrote on my Kindle sandwiched between the Hunger Games and Night Circus and makes for a more enjoyable reading experience overall.
*I don't actually hope you hate it. But you're free to do so, if such is your want.
