I am making a new about section, but it's still in progress. Be patient.

Sup

So I haven't written a journal entry in a year, but I feel like some blatant pandering is in order.

I just submitted a tee design to Threadless, and I need votes to try and get it printed.

So uh, yeah. That's about it. I'm gonna go work on some other drawings.

I love complex character animation personally but I find it impossible to do the level of detail I want by hand. I just don't want to pay $6000 for motion capture that marginally works.

Hmm. I got a student license for Autodesk Entertainment Suite so I have Maya but have been mainly using Max. I'll try and learn it but I'll probably be using Max more. I'm just more used to it.

Do you ever try applying Motion Capture to bipeds? I've used Brekel for my Kinect but it's way to and takes forever to correct in Motion Builder. I tried a trial for ipisoft but it's very slow. Currently I'm just hoping the Organic Motion will release a cheap version with their Kinect capture release. It actual captures full 3D models with a Kinect integrated with other cameras to create a 21 point biped as opposed to perceive death image. It's difficult to find cheap MC.

Do you prefer to extract models or make them yourself? I personally feel that making them makes them end up looking better because you can keep the same feel while using better NURBS subdivisions to make it look smoother.

Also, for character modeling, I use Max but I'm wondering if Maya is a better solution.

I let him know about the 64-bit, so he'll be doing that ass soon as he can afford windows 7 (so effing expensive), but until then he said he's going to use Ubuntu.

Thankfully he left it open to expansion, in terms of RAM. The whole point of this build was to see if he could build something good for not that much money. I'm sure he'll get more ram, as soon as he has the money.

Post this stuff somewhere so people can download the models to work on them.

I can't guarantee how much I'll be able to do for you for the next couple months, I'm in the middle of a bike trip to California, so I have intermittent internet access at best, as well as the fact that I'm currently working on my own game, but I'd definitely like to help you out here and there.

I would also be interested in doing more steady commission work, but I obviously need to be in a more stable situation before I can do that.

Cool! I look forward to you being able to join in As for posting the models... well, I'm only really working on the BC-305 and F-306 (Oh and Midway Station Mk2) - I'd sort of like to get those two built mostly myself. But with limited means to do that now, I might well be uploading them soon The others so far are either complete, not started or not mine

In reply to theironpaw, #3:
seems cool man, i might be able to do some team modeling for you, I'm afraid i cannot do animating, currently in a team of 15 animators working on a intensive 10 week project to submit for a movie festival.

but i can help you with some parts like modeling etc but will have to be in my spare time

I have legit Copy of Autodesk suit 2010 and I am currently studying professional game development in Art "eg. 3d" at the Aie in canberra australia.

give me a holla if you need me for anything.

Sounds pretty cool Are you good with characters, or would you prefer to do ships?

Started working on the warthog, but since I'm having trouble finding any useful references (i.e. the in-game model, preferably from Halo 3), all I have so far is the tire.

I modeled and UV'd it in about a day, and spent most of today working on it's textures (still WIP). Not too impressive a feat, given the simplicity of the model, but at least I've got something done.
