Your Opinion Please!!!The Strokes...
emo? or new age rock?
Now I'm a big fan of the Strokes, have been since roughly a year after their first album released in 2001. And to be honest I find their latest work, First Impressions of Earth, released in January 2006, to be quite horrible compared to Is This It in '01 and Room on Fire in '03 but it's slowly growing on me. Anyways. I think it's safe to guarantee that alot of ppl here can't stand the sight of emos or even the sound of emos for that matter. But I don't think a band should be judged according to their appearance. Yes it's true that the BACKUP guitarist pretty much pounds the crap outta one chord through every song but the LEAD guitarist actuallt has talent with his crazy riffs and effects and has often been compared to Page, yes Jimmy Page. And their bassist while majorly simply following the songs with his bass actually has his moments of glory in songs like Is This It and Reptilia and several others. Although the singer, Julius Casablancas, has somewhat poor vocals, the filter he sings behind in the 1st tow albums sounds pretty good. So please give the band a listen and lemme know if you would consider them emo in both appearance and sound.
