no friends? make some!
What do you do when you're unemployed, most of your friends are a couple of hours or more away, and you can't afford to go out? You grab some wood and make some friends lol I started wood carving. If you're seen any of my new pictures, you've probably guessed that already. I did some carving when I was a kid. Nothing fancy, just some friend's names and a sail boat. I didn't have any proper tools however. Now, I'm collecting carving knives and gouges... trying to make a genuine hobby out of it lol I'm also really close to actually have a job! It's been over a year since I've gotten a paycheck. I can't believe how hard it is to find work these days. Word of warning: DO NOT get fired. In this economy, it is ridiculously hard to bounce back from it. I thought for sure i would have gotten on at a local university. I passed the tests and was more than qualified for the job... but their policy is that if you got fired from your last job, they treat you like you fired from the university! So after a lot of hoop jumping, I'm still not allowed to be on their register. I have to hold a full time job for a year before they will consider me. Another company said that I look like too much of a risk because of my job history. I'm sorry I went to college and had a bunch of different summer jobs because my parents are divorced and I didn't know where I would be. their answer? go work somewhere for a year or two and try again. So I need a job to get a job. WTF? I got offered a temp job at a test scoring center. hopefully, that will give me an edge on getting an actual job soon. well I'll end this update/rant. |
