I finished the campaign today (not on co-op) and got to spend more time on the multiplayer.
As far as the campaign went I thought it was pretty good even thought the story is nothing new. Each mission has challenges that when completed will unlock new gear for you to use so it has replay value. some of the high points include using a mech to obliterate your enemies, using synch shots to take out multiple enemies at once, optical camo, and getting new tech to play with such as the UAV. As far as the game mechanics go it all worked pretty well, I did run into a few AI issues that forced me to quit and come back but that was rare, there were also some minor graphical issues. One thing that made me kind of sad was that after all the concept art and the first live action trailer the characters in the game look nothing like the originals. However because the characters are not all in the same uniform they each have their own look which helped me ID each of them so in the end it worked out. I found the characters to be likeable and there were even moments of humor thrown in. Overall the story managed to keep me entertained until the end and I am now going back to complete the challenges.
Now for the multiplayer(thus far):
As far as the character classes go these are pretty standard. You have an engineer who uses shotguns and personal defense rifles and has tech that can help spot enemies. A scout that uses SMGs and sniper rifles and also has optical camo, more or less inviso when not moving. And finally there is the rifleman, my favorite, which is your basic infantry unit that can use assault rifles and LMGs and can also take a little more punishment than the other classes. The only customization options that are available are for your headgear, you unlock more as you rank up. As you level up you gain points that you can spend in the vast gunsmith mode that allows you to switch out parts on your guns.
There are several different game types but the one I have played the most is called Decoy, there are three different objectives that you must attack/defend but only one of them will lead you to your final objective while the other two are decoys but neither team knows which is the real one. For the most part everything works as it should but there are issues. Now I have bad internet but more than one person has confirmed that they too have been randomly disconnected from the server but this happens with all online games. The biggest issue I have with the online play is that aside from the sniper rifles the other guns are rather inaccurate, also I have seen on numerous occasions a SMG tearing people apart from a distance that even assault rifles have a hard time with. So I guess there are some balance issues that I really do hope they fix. Also the online isn't as tactical as I thought it would be. Despite a problem here and there I can still have a good time online
Good:
Awesome future tech, gunsmith, decent sized campaign that can be played with friends, hoard mode that can be played with friends, cover system that works
Bad:
Standard story, some texture and AI hiccups, some online issues (could just be me), cover system online could use some tweaking(I'll take cover against a wall when I was really trying to run by it), can't join a stranger's campaign or hoard mode (possibly on the hoard mode but I have yet to see how), guns online are a bit inaccurate
All in all I give it an 8/10 (and that's hoping they tweak a few things)
