it's been a while.
However, I'm not dead yet! When was the last time I posted..? Some time around the end of last year, I think... Yeah. Well, not a great deal has happened since then, yet enough to warrant me writing this I suppose. I finished school, yay. I enrolled at a college, also yay. College is awesome. You may (or may not) be interested to know I'm doing a 2 year Advanced Diploma of Games Design and Development, Majoring in Game Art. So, basically I'm learning to make video games, as far as modelling, texturing, rigging and animating goes (everything except coding). It's fun. Like, really, really fun. So far we've learned to model our own 3D objects using a program called Autodesk Maya 2011, animate and apply basic textures (using the same program), and then we learned to animate character rigs and face rigs (that was cool). We then learned to create our own textures using Adobe Photoshop CS5. We've just finished a whole class project, which was to create a city to be placed in a game level. Of the 3, 3D Art classes, mine was given the sci fi themed city -- the others were 'human' and 'bio'. The human themed city ended up being themed French Steampunk. They sunk a huge chasm in the ground and placed a modified version of the Eiffel Tower above it (complete with giant mining drill), while the bio city was basically a city made of plants, tentacles and pus. It looked cool too. Ours was basically a gleaming, yet dark, towering city, surrounded by slums and machine gun equipped watch towers. I was put in charge of making the spire, in which our evil tyrant overlord would live, so I made a TRON-like building, based on the night club tower from TRON Legacy. I think I'm going to have an awesome time with our next assignment, which is character design, where the theme is Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales, which you then must apply one or more of the following themes to: undead, steampunk, cyberpunk, gothic, or... the other one I forget (it must've been the most uncool of the five). Unfortunately though, with me being at College 3 days a week, it hasn't left me much time to work, so I'm becoming more and more broke as time goes on. Smeg. :( Ptree, signing off... Again. Probably for a while, judging by my recent presence (or lack thereof) on this site.
