The slackest man on the planet
And now, the most anticipated event since the film "Waterworld II"...
A new journal by MorrisseyMan!
How have you all been? Well, I know I have been slack in the past five months, but I honestly lacked two things to keep me coming back: time and modivation. But I am forcing myself to write this journal because I miss talking to you guys.
Well, here are the major events inmy life since I was struck down with chicken pox:
I have began piano lessons again! It's been about seven years since proper lessons, and it's great to have them again. I have gotten so much better at playing classical piano. And, because of that, my jazz piano has also gotten a hell of a lot better. I have also had a big change in my style, I play a lot cooler (less notes, but each note has more meaning). I used to just solo really fast, and, after listening to one album (Bill Evans - Interplay) my style changed completely.
Let's see... Nothing much at school... I'll keep you posted on that front :P
And now my main news: I have now got a regular gig! The trio and I play every Saturday (work permitting - I'll talk about that in a second) at a little restaurant called Portobello. It's great. Not great pay, but we get a lot of publicity, because it is right out on the street. A lot of people stop to hear us play, one bloke was there for about an hour and a half! And another really cool thing is that we will be playing at the Basement, which is the Gold Coast's big Jazz venue. We have been invited to play, and we might even get another regular guest spot! So excited.
In secondary news, I am now a working man. I work at Woolworths (a supermarket) as a "Service Cashier" (lazer lad). I have only been there for three shifts, and I am really enjoying it a hell of a lot more then Subway... The people are a lot nicer, and I get to talk over the loud speaker :D
Anyway, was just a little entry to say that I am (very) alive, and I am hoping to get back into the swing of RT soon...
...but I say that all the time :P
