Upcoming GamesSo this is turning out to be another interesting year in video game releases. I'm always most excited when there are a large number of games from a variety of genres coming out. I always hope that at least one (if not all of them) will be that new game that I drives my imagination.
First up there's a few interesting games coming out for the Vita. I only really got the Vita in the first place because I got a coupon for a free copy of Uncharted Golden Abyss when I per-ordered it, and because some of my favourite PS2 games are going to be ported to it, and not some lame watered down version like the PSP usually got, the FULL game. I only really got the Vita in the first place because I got a coupon for a free copy of Uncharted Golden Abyss when I per-ordered it, and because some of my favourite PS2 games are going to be ported to it, and not some lame watered down version like the PSP usually got, the FULL game. That's mostly what I like about the Vita, it has all the graphical capabilities of the PS2 in a compact form. That's ALL I wanted :D As soon as I have
Persona 4 in my hands I will be golden.
Beyond that, there's only one original Vita game coming out this year that I find interesting. In
Gravity Rush you play a young amnesiatic girl with the power to control gravity. It looks like an interesting way to take advantage of the motion and touch controls. Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be a confusing mess.
Another shocking development, I'm actually anticipating a
WII RELEASE! What strange hell is this? The good folks of
Operation Rainfall have been working hard to get some of the best Japan and/or Europe only released games imported to North America.
The Last Story will
FINALLY see a North America release this June. It's an RPG set around a grand story of saving the world. Yeah there are lots of games with that description, but few have looked so
stunning. Despite being on the Wii the game has vast lush environments that really push the console to it's limits. I almost wish they'd put off it's release until the WiiU just so they can really show it off.
When
Xcom was first announced, many oldschool fans of the original were...
upset. Honestly I like the style and esthetic of this remake, but I can understand the anger of the fans. It has
LITTLE to do with the original squad based Xcom series. You don't even have the same aliens. Fortunately, this all appears to a bit of a bluff, because Firaxis was also, seeming on the side, working on an actual re-imagined version of the first
Xcom. Honestly they both look interesting, but the remake just looks more fun. I like the idea of creating, naming and maintaining my own customized squad. The fact that you could loose squad mates if a mission goes tits up means I'll probably be exiting missions halfway through
MANY times, just so I never loose
ANYONE! I don't think I have to say much about
Assassin's Creed 3. If you're not a fan, you don't care, and if you are then you already have you're preorder slip in hand. The best part (to me at least) is the Freedom Edition, which comes with this awesome statue of the games protagonist.
It'll go great alongside my
other one >D
And finally...
Halo 4.
I
REALLY want to say I'm sick of this series... but DAMNIT I really do love the story behind these games! I
HAVE to get this one. It's an addiction! >S
