Hectic
Okay, as some of you may know, I have had a wild two weeks. Here is what happened two weeks ago today: I am on vacation in Tampa with my girlfriend. I'm checking out Facebook because I am slightly bored, and I see a status update from my Uncle saying that my grandmother, who I am living with at this time, is planning on moving out to Wisconsin to a retirement community that is near my other uncle. No one has told me any of this. Needless to say, I flip my shit. I called up my Dad and Step-mother because I'm afraid that if I call my grandmother that I'll get even more angry with her than I already am, scream and yell and cause a huge scene. Things generally not needed in a convention. I talk with them a while and explain the situation. (Since they're generally shunned by the rest of the family, I had to explain everything) They talk me down from my super rage, and promise to help me out. Skip forward to earlier this week: I have a sit down meeting with my Dad and Step-mother, and we get a plan to look at some apartments and to get my finances in order. As well, we also fill out and submit my application to the Americorps. I have wanted to do this for a while now, but have never had the chance, mostly thanks to my mother, to actually sign up. We check out a few places through craigslist and make some calls. Saw some nice places, saw some not so nice places, and saw a place that I wanted to turn tail and run FAR AWAY from. Then we came across this place that is 1.5 miles from work, easily within walking distance, just down the block from a grocery store, and on the bus route. Goes for 350/mo and utilities split between the four tenants, myself included. All the other tenants are older than I am, roughly 30+, are average workers, and don't party. Neighborhood is safe and quiet. And I LIKE IT. I move in next week. Now to budget myself and see if I can't get my own set of wheels. |
