      RT Florida

      Wow. Just absolutely WOW!

Thanks to you guys, the community, we were able to CRUSH our goal this year. We set out to raise $2,000 for the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children (we'll talk more about how awesome they were in a moment) but instead raised a total of $3,279! And yes, this includes the shirt and pin sales. We're freaking flabbergasted!

We still have a few stretch goals to do for you all.

      - Make realistic Miis of the group

      - Episode 2 of a Slightly Off D&D adventure

      - Big Rib challenge

      - Overwatch rematch with RTNY

      - Hosting a Hot One-style episode

      - Obstacle course challenge

      - Dipshit Duos video, part 2

      - RT Florida homebrew beer

      - Julian gets a Jar Jar Binks tattoo.

Trust us, we're excited for that last one too!

You may have noticed during the stream we had two people come on air during the evening. That was Tyler and Stephen from the Arnold Palmer Hospital. They work with a lot of the Extra Life streamers and supports to help us do what we do. We were so excited when they jumped in and said "sure, we'll do some Gang Beasts and get our legs waxed." We'll be working with them throughout the next year to help make our streams and campaigns even better so expect to see them more often. You all have definitely set a high bar for us next year!

Speaking of next year, we're already hitting the ground running with planning. In fact, we're even considering a third stream during the spring to kick off the new Extra Life campaign. But you all will hear more on that from us later. barbara

Don't forget, you can still donate for the rest of the year too. They don't stop counting until the last day of the year and then it starts all over again. So maybe you're feeling generous and want to help someone- feel free to help the kids of the Arnold Palmer Hospital!

We can't wait to do this again next year!

      RT Florida

TWO DAYS. We're two days away from our 2018 Extra Life Game Day steam and we're all freaking out. Why? Because it's gonna be freaking amazing! And definitely not because we're trying to make sure nothing falls apart. So here we go!

Join us November 3rd starting at 12:00 PM EDT on our Twitch channel as we play for 25 hours in support of the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando! We decided to choose a closer hospital this year and we've excited to be working directly with the hospital and their representatives to make this stream even bigger and better! You can always help by donating at the page below:

Even if you can't help by donating, you can do your part by sharing and letting people know what a great cause this is for. Maybe you have friends or family who would love to help us meet our goal, or even just want to watch the madness and chaos unfold for the full 25 hours.

Speaking of goals, we have new and improved stretch goals this year! One of our big changes was making sure that most of the goals can be completed on stream for you guys to watch. It helps us make sure we can get them done too. Check out the list below:

Oh, and just in case you guys decide to crush the $2,000 goal, we have extra just for that scenario. They're a bit of a stretch to get to, but we really hope you guys can help us make it to $2,500. ;)

That being said, we also have a full schedule of games and segments laid our for you guys. That's right, we're organizedish. See what we'll be playing and join us for your favorite games! Or you know, just stick around the entire time and support the kids.

Don't worry, we aren't asking for donations for nothing (not the entire time at least). We've brought back the Wheel of Horror which means the Wheel of DOOM is back as well. A donation of $25 or more will get you a spin on the Wheel of Horror, and $100 or more will get you a spin on the Wheel of DOOM where you know something bad will always happen to our participants.

But hey, maybe you want something physical out of your donation. Well then, do I have the right thing for you! Last year we had an exclusive RT Florida Extra Life shirt. Now this year, we have an exclusive shirt AND pin which you can order right from our online store! All proceeds will go to our donation goal to help us reach it even faster! These totals will be added on after the stream and once everyone's items have been sent out. Check them out below and order yours now!

And just in case a shirt and pin aren't enough, we have raffle prizes! Yup, we're giving away items so long as you make a minimum of a $5 donation during that items time slot. You can see these all listed in the image below. After an issue last year, please note that we'll only be shipping the raffle items to addresses within the U.S. Once the $5 donations are received and it reached the end of the raffle's time slot, we'll gather up the eligible donors, and winners will be chosen at random! You will be contacted via email about your prize and where it can be sent. You can only win one prize during the stream, so choose wisely!

And hey! Did you know we're going to be making an appearacne on the Rooster Teeth Community stream this year? That's right! We'll be closing out the stream again on their Twitch channel starting at 8:00 AM CST, Nov 4th (that's 9:00 am EST). Just remember, our stream goes until 12:00 pm EST on Sunday on our own Twitch channel. We'll be streaming there all weekend long!

(Note to Tom: Don't end the stream early again barbara)

See everyone on Game Day! -> https://www.twitch.tv/rt_florida

      Hi All!

This is just a reminder that the RT Florida group is active and alive. Unfortunately due to the limitations of the community site here, we don't tend to post here often. Sad, we know.

But don't worry! We're active across the Internet on Facebook, Twitter, and Discord. Find those links below and we hope to see you around the web!

      RT Florida

RTX is crazy and a bit scary if it’s your first year, or even if it’s not! Don’t worry though, cause we have plenty of experienced attendees who were happy enough to share their experiences and advice for everyone else. The number one rule though, don’t be a dick.

What the Hell are Tickets This Year?!

So, there’s a few more badge options this year than there were before. The Platinum badge is last year’s VIP with all access for those who can afford it. Weekend Plus is a step down, and an in between for Platinum and Weekend. The Weekend badge gives you access to RTX the entire weekend, but expect to wait in lines. Single Day badges are just that, they give you one day at the con.

To see a more thorough breakdown of each badge, check out Bethany’s post below. The main notes we have are that Weekend Plus is like a discount Platinum; you get in an hour earlier, an extra autograph code, lounge access, and reserved seating for CENTER STAGE (not panels). There is a possibility that more features will be added later, but we will have to wait for an update from RT on this.

      Pick Up Your Badges Early

RTX badges are being mailed out this year. Fingers crossed this goes smoothly. Make sure you purchase your ticket by July 6th 11:59 PM CST. In fact, the sooner you buy your badge, the better. Any badges purchased after this will need to be picked up on-site. If this is the case, we suggest picking up your badge early. Like, Thursday early. It will save you a LONG wait the morning of.

      RTX Lines

Okay, so the lines at RTX kinda suck, especially for the big panels. So if you're not sure whether you'll make it into a panel because of the lines, subscribe to the @RTXLines on Twitter for the most up to date notifications. Plan out what panels you want to go to the most. And just in case you end up missing one, have back up plans, because chances are, it will happen. Some lines form 2-3 hours before the panel, plan accordingly. HOWEVER, please do not line up any sooner than this; it’s rude to other con-goers and the Guardians will just tell you to come back later anyway.

      Check out the RTX app!

You know how we mentioned planning out your days for panels above? Well, Rooster Teeth makes a pretty awesome app to keep track of all that stuff! You can add panels, autograph sessions, and events to a linear schedule so you can keep track of everything you want to do. It allows you to add reminders, view maps of the convention and city, and even view friend’s schedules. Just remember, you may not be able to do everything, so make sure you have a couple things picked out that you REALLY want to do. We suggest one panel a day, especially if it’s one of the big podcast ones.

      After Hours Events

RTX not only goes on during the day, but in the afternoon too! And sometimes the day before the weekend and the day after. If you bought the badge, there’s the VIP party, RT events, and community events like the ones we put on through RT Florida. There are even a lot of events that happen on Thursday too like the Booze Cruise put on by Rooster Speak. Make sure that you arrive early enough to take part in these with everyone else! Take a look in the forums on the RT site, check Facebook and Twitter closer to RTX, or just ask us and we can probably find something!

      Meet New People!

Okay, seriously. Rooster Teeth is all about community. That’s WHY RTX exists. So use that to your advantage and interact with the attendees. They’re there for the same reasons as you, and that’s because they love RT too! If you’re waiting in line for a couple hours, turn to the person next to you and strike up a conversation or play a game of MDB or CAH, or another game with a 3 letter acronym. If you like to bring your Nintendo DS or Switch (a very good idea to pass the time), you’ll likely pass the same people all weekend. See if you can figure out who they are and talk to them. You can make new friends during the weekend, and because we all live on the Internet anyway, it’s easy to keep in touch!

      Mind Your Body

RTX is a weekend of fun, but don’t forget to take care of yourself. Austin is hot, just like Florida, so make sure to drink A LOT of water. Stay hydrated and make sure to rest up enough at night and you should make it through just fine. Carry around a bag (you get one that you can pick up at the convention) and put a bottle of water in it. You can carry your wallet, a charger, some snacks, entertainments, and any merch you buy it in. Also, make sure your wardrobe is appropriate too- Wear shorts, or be comfortable with the fact that wearing jeans is going to be very hot of you’re outside. As a courtesy to others, make sure to shower every day and wear deodorant, even carry one with you if you tend to sweat more than usual (hey, it happens to the best of us). There will be a lot of people crammed into small rooms and you don’t want to make the smell any worse. Plus it’ll be perfect to keep in that bag you're carrying around!

      Budget, Budget, Budget!

RTX is expensive, we know. But if you budget yourself, you can make it through the weekend having spent only $1K! Your flight and hotel will take up a large part of this, and while there’s not a lot you can do about the flight, the hotel cost can be cut by room sharing with other attendees. Post a message in the forums or in the group and see who else is looking to share. We even put up a room sharing sheet below so you can put your name down and find someone to room with, or find people to share your room. Make sure that you budget out enough money for food, merch, and drink too. It’s a weekend of fun, but you don’t want it to be Saturday and you’ve already spent most of your money on merch. Tip: you can save some money by staying at a hotel with free breakfast; you can bring some bagels or cereal back to your room and use them for lunch too!

      Our Official RTX 2018 Hotel

Rooster Teeth has their own block of rooms at hotels where they offer discounted rates. This can be a good deal if you get them before they sell out. However, like we mentioned earlier, you can also save money by rooming with a group of people. We like to try to stick together as a group here at RT Florida, and have chosen an official hotel for the group this year; The Hampton Inn on San Jacinto Blvd. While you don’t have to stay here, this is our choice because we find it’s a decent price, has free breakfast, and the suite rooms have enough room for people to pile in!

It’s been said enough times, cosplay is NOT consent. Ask before you touch someone or take a picture. If you like someone’s outfit or setup, ask them about it. Most people are willing to talk about their work and even give tips. Just remember to ask first! If you’re cosplaying, make sure you are aware of the rules for weapons. There’s a security table where you will have to get tagged and the tag will need to be visible on the weapon at all times. And if you have a large cosplay project, just be mindful of others, make sure you aren’t intentionally bumping into people.

RESPECT THEM! Seriously. RTX Guardians keep the events held together. Don’t be a dick and get upset just because a Guardian says you can’t line up early or tells you not to stand somewhere. They’re just doing their jobs, and a fine one at that! Don’t feel afraid to talk to them if you’re waiting in line, or ask questions if you’re unsure of something. That’s why they’re there. If you see one of them rushing around doing something though, either be brief, or ask the next one. Guardians are busy people, but they still want to help how they can!

There’s a lot of fun and cool stuff you can get at RTX. If you’re one of those lucky people who get to walk the exhibition hall early, consider using that time to visit the store while there’s no line. You can get your RT shopping out of the way that day too! However, Sunday is usually when the store and the other vendors usually have the best deals. They’re trying to get rid of all their stock before they have to lug it back so mark down a lot of the prices. Just be wary that they may be sold out of some stuff come the last day, so if there’s something you really want, maybe get it ahead of time.

      Some Other Helpful Tips

If you are carrying around a bag, make sure that you don’t leave it lying around. There’s a good chance it will get taken and you will never see it again. Last year, someone left a Nintendo Switch in the bathroom… Yeah, they never saw it again. Prepare for the security tea mto check you on the way into the exhibition hall. There is a bag check and a metal detector; when it’s your turn, don’t hold up the line because you weren’t paying attention and aren’t ready with your bag or badge. Also, make sure to carry some cash on you. Maybe you’re splitting something with someone or one of the booths doesn’t accept credit cards. It’s always a good practice to do when you’re traveling. Lastly, we’re going to repeat it again, DON’T BE A DICK. Have fun!

      RT Florida

Hey everybody! It's that time of year again where the community gets together and plays games to raise money for their local children's hospital. That's right, we're talking about Extra Life, and we're gearing up to stream again this year!

Join us November 4th starting at 12:00 PM EST on Twitch as we play games in support of the Wolfson Children's Hospital in Jacksonville. A few of our members have been directly affected by this hospital, making us proud to support the establishment! You can help us by donating any amount on our Extra Life fundraiser page below:

Do you have your own Extra Life stream you plan on hosting this year? Let us know and join our team! We want to help you. Your donations will help us reach our team goal of $3,000, and since we're also signed up under the Rooster Teeth Super Team banner, all that goes towards their total goal too!

Speaking of goals, we have our own. Our 25 hour RT Florida stream is working to raise $2,000 towards the Wolfson Children's Hospital. We know you're an awesome community and you'll help us break that in no time, but we also decided to give you guys some incentive and set some stretch goals for the group. Check them out below!

To keep the stream fun and interesting while we're on our way to that goal, we have a full schedule planned out for you wonderful viewers. From games to shenanigans, we have a full menu for you keep yourself entertained with while you watch!

And hey, maybe you want something a little more out of your donation than self satisfaction. Well we have just the thing for you! This year RT Florida has its own exclusive Extra Life merch. Available until the end of Game Day weekend, you can purchase your own RT Florida Extra Life exclusive shirt or Pineapple Civil War print from our store. All proceeds go towards our $2,000 goal, and you get some snazzy swag out of it. Check them out below, or head to our store and pick one up yourself!

Just like last year, we have a lot of cool raffle items and prizes to give away. We've teased a few of the items below, but the rest will be officially announced later this week! All it takes to enter a raffle is a small $5 donation during an item's scheduled time. At the end of that slot, a winner or winners will be chosen at random, and contacted via email about their prize! You can only win one item during the stream, so choose wisely!

UPDATE: Raffle items have been announced along with their giveaway schedule. Check it out in the image below. We're very excited to display some local work from the community (like the RWBY Spray Paints) and are continuing our tradition of giving away another Burnie Burns Challenge Coin. And yes, you read that right. On Sunday, 8:00am EST, during our RT Community Power Hour, we are raffling off an Xbox One with a controller, and possibly even a game! All it takes is $5 to enter the raffle, however, there is only ONE entry per person. Remember, it's all to help the kids!

Last year we implemented a fun activity called the Hat of Horrors. This year, we've upped our production value and turned that hat into a wheel (we're not witches, we swear)! Donate $25 or more and you will be able to hear the tick tick tick of the wheel as we stand around in horror at what one of us is going to have to do. We also upped the stakes. Now, if you make a donation of $100 or more, we have a special list of activities to spin for that are far more dastardly than the standard ones!

Make sure to follow this post to stay up to date on our most recent Extra Life announcements!

      RT Florida

No big update this week due to the hurricane (because you know that's going to be the excuse for everything for a while). We hope everyone is safe and their property is undamaged. If things didn't go as well as hoped though and there is anything RT Florida can do to help, please let us know! We'll do what we can.

We plan on doing something to help people who were affected soon as even some of our members were affected by the storm and we want to help. Please keep an eye out for that in the near future.

We are still having our escape room meetup this Friday, so be sure to join us at The Escape Game off I-Drive. We'll be heisting some art so bring your best heist outfits! Even if you can't make it to the event afterwards, we'll be grabbing some dinner afterwards so join us then. We'll be sure to update the event below when and where food is confirmed, but right now it's a tentative 9:00pm for food.

      Remember, be safe!

      RT Florida

Thanks for everyone who came out to our Week of Games. It was a lot of fun and we hope to do it again in the future. We know we had some issues with Gmod, so we promise to make up for it with another game night soon!

Our meetup for September is coming up, on RT Community Day nonetheless! Join us September 15th at 7 pm at Escape Game Orlando off I-Drive for some heist fun. Be sure to buy your ticket for The Heist Escape Room ahead of time to make sure you can get in. We will be playing with the 7:00 pm and 7:10 pm rooms as they only hold 8 each. Let us know if you have questions, as we know the setup for this meetup is a bit unorthodox.

Extra Life is happening again this year and we would like some input form the community! Check out of the form below and let us know what you think!

A note, we are hoping to do a pride segment that is completely optional. You can even submit responses publicly or anonymously. Let us know if you have any questions about this!

      RT Florida

First off, the RT Florida Extra Life stream is being worked on behind the scenes. There is a group heading the event which consists of Victoria. Chris, Will, Clayton, Sergio, Jake, and Logan. If you have questions about anything, please bring it to one of us and we can help.

Extra Life Game Day is November 4th, a Saturday. While there is a confirmed RT Community stream, we don't have the exact dates and we can only speculate based off the information we have so far.

In the most recent Rooster Teeth podcast #447, Jack confirmed that their EL stream will be November 11th, a week after Game Day. This leads up to believe that the community stream will be the same day as Game Day, just like last year. No matter what, we plan on doing both Game Day and RT community stream whether they are separate or the same day.

Our EL stream is all going to be at one location this year in Orlando. This is to reduce technical difficulties and simplify the process. We will be inviting people on throughout the 24 hours and swapping others out to give everyone a chance to be on camera. However, we can only have so many people on at once and as there are a lot of people in this group, please note that not everyone might get a chance to be apart of the stream on the camera. But, we do intend to have prizes, stretch goals, and the Hat of Horrors again this year.

Another thing. Last year there were some instances of underage drinking and that will NOT happen again this year. This is a charity event for the children and we need to remain professional. We will also be making people sign waivers if they are going to be on the stream. This is nothing personal, it just covers out asses as some things we have planned are going to be a little outrageous.

We are still working on a list, but so far have the following games/segment.

        - Overcooked

        - Speed Runners

        - Possibly Dream Daddy

        - A LIVE horror game segment

        - A special racing game setup

We're always looking for ideas to incorporate into the stream. If there's something you think would be fun to try, let us know and while we can't guarantee we will use it, we will consider it.

We are looking for some extra equipment, one item in particular, a multiple output video switcher. We ask because a decent one costs as low as $500. We're just asking you guys to keep an eye out if you know where to get a used one for a couple hundred or even know someone who has one who would consider letting us borrow it for the event. A few other things we're looking for are HD camera, USB and HDMI extension cable, tripods, collapsible tables, monitors, lights, mics, and games. As we get closer to the event, it will become more apparent what we really need.

Prizes. While we can get some help with this from Rooster Teeth, it's going to be small things like key chains and slap bands. We want to offer more unique prizes as well. We're looking for people to donate or offer as a service such as physical items, commissions requests for some type of art

digital goods, etc. If you have something to contribute as a prize, please let us know and we will review it.

A big thing we want to do is a Retro Rooster Teeth Grab Bag. What we're looking for are people to go through their closets, storage boxes, or whatever to find old rooster teeth apparel that they are okay with donating for EL and allowing us to used them in a grab bag of 2-3 items depends on how many donations we get. If you're not sure whether an items is good to use, the condition is good enough, or are just not really sure what this is about, just message one of the people heading the event and they can help.

Finally, we'd like to deliver most of our grab bags and prizes in the RT Double Gold boxes. If you have a few of those lying around that you haven't gotten rid of yet, please be sure to keep them around or give them to Victoria to hold onto in the meantime. If we have any left over after the event, we'll gladly give them back if that's what you want.

If you have any more questions on Extra Life of what's happening, please be sure to ask! We'll explain what we can.
