2010 Federal Election Voting Day

As all Australian should know the 21st of August was our federal election day. I went down to the local school, where the McPherson electorate where able to vote. I had my name marked off and received 2 papers; 1 green (the house of reps) and the other white (the senate). The green one was as simple as numbering the 4 major parties according to your preference. The White one however you could either vote for one party or number the 60 candidates and being the difficult person i am i numbered them all. This was harder then it seemed. I found it amazing that there are so many people running for the senate and I must admit picking from the sex party, hunters and fishers party, the socialist alliance, the climate skeptics and so on was difficult. I still think it is funny we have a sex party in Australia. I Actually like voting i feel so empowered.

So when the polls closed at like 6pm, the election frenzy began on tv...So far it has been interesting we have 1 green in and LNP is leading by 2 seat but they can't win unless they get 76 seats total. If they don't get it they have to get the support from the independent members. Labour's Julia Gillard was favored to win but it looks like the LNP's Tony Abbott is putting up a really good fight (personally i think Julie Bishop would have been a better candidate). Overall in my opinion this election hasn't present the Australian public with a decent choice of a Prime Minister. I know being female I should be like 'lets vote for the women and have the first elected female prime minister of Australia.' I couldn't do that because i don't like how she seized power and how she has been campaigning, I'm not saying Abbott is better because he isn't. In the end i voted for who i liked in my electorate...which she won so McPherson remains Liberal once again...its a pity mad dog may wasn't standing again...she was epic...

Other things I did on the election day:
I went to an election party where people were drinking and paying out politicians names and appearances. and I learnt there is an electorate called Batman...lol
I went and picked up my new bed...it is very comfy
i saw my aunt.
and i played F.E.A.R 2

Overall it was a very good day.
