The Life and Times of GamersIt almost seems crazy in the way the gaming industry has become, from the small crash back in the days of the Atari to the rise that came out of Nintendo, it seems like Gaming is never going to end and that it will continue forever. This is something I fear, and believe we need another gaming crash like we've had before. Now most of you might think I'm trying to piss you off for the sake of jokes, that's not the case, hell I love video games, but the way the industry is handled right now just it's getting to the point where it should crash once again. My examples for why I think this is pretty obvious, we games that are coming out that don't need to be made, we all Finished the Fight years ago why is there a Halo 4? The fact that game reviews are coming out with positive scores for games that clearly suck, Dragon Age 2 comes to mind as one of the worst Video Games I've ever played yet when it comes to game reviews it got a better score then it needed, hell a lot of games have that as well and it never really add's up, but then again I hate game reviewers and there dumb number system of scores think it's totally pointless. Another reason why I think this is because of the whole New Vegas controversy, if any of know what I'm talking about then awesome we are on the same page for those who don't look no further then Metacritic. Basically the story goes that because New Vegas didn't get a 87 on Metacritic that they had to fire people and hold back from a pay raise, which personally I don't understand why that is the case, it was one number away why should that matter or even play into the factor of how good the game is to start with.
I just don't know anymore back in the day gaming seemed fun, but I can't remember the last game that was fun for fun sake, now it's all about the best looking graphics or the best story, please graphic's don't mean shit to the over all game, and the best story, all video games have shitty B movie plots to start with, doesn't mean a story is bad, just why even bother saying that some games have the best plot when it is crap to start with, if anything I would say the writing is good, which last year games like Mortal Kombat (for the sake of being over the top and crazy for the sake of never being taken seriously) and Portal 2 amazed me with it's writing. But we don't see that as much anymore, maybe it's the fact that I'm getting older and the older I get the more cynical I become, that's possible but I do honestly think that we should have a few years without games, and this crash should happen just so we can restart everything once again. It's gotten out of hand and it's becoming some kind of unkillable monster bent on making as much money as possible where before game developers made games just because they wanted to make something fun. Now don't get me wrong I'm all for the kickstarter games, hell I've donated my money to some of them because they seem like fun, but that's because these people wanna make a game that they feel will bring more to the table and be great for the fans, not because they wanna make trillions of money like what Bioware has become, Mass Effect 3 was shit and it's not because of the endings it's because it's a bad game writting is the worst compared to Mass Effect, and yeah the middle of the game is fantastic, but that doesn't mean the over all experience was bad. Or better yet Star Wars: The Old Republic, it's a horrible game and insults to MMO's, yeah sure your story feels important, but when it comes to how the game was made and how much money was put into it, no that's just dumb, you can't put in billions of dollars into a game then tell me that my top of the line desktop can't run the game because it has too much RAM. Seeing TOR can only run smoothly if you have at max 4 GB of ram, which is the dumbest thing on the planet.
Game companies don't care about us anymore they see us as sheep that flood the market when a new game is announced and yet get angry when we say we don't enjoy it. You can't give us something that is bad and expect us to enjoy it because you said it was good. As a consumer I do have a right to put my foot down and be able to tell them how I feel about there game, not just sit there and cry in my corner. I just I don't know anymore, personally I'm just going to start saying it, "Remember when Video Games were fun?"
