I'm alive!!... Or so it would appear.
Greetings denizens of RT; I am, at long last, among you once again. You may be saying to yourself, "Summer... WTF." I do have a habit of disappearing for several months at a time. Trust me, I know. So I will take a brief moment to describe to you the events of the last six or seven months. Over last summer, I moved into the wilderness. Literally. I lived and worked full time 55 minutes north of my former place of residence (Jackson Hole, Wyoming -- look that shit up) at the northernmost part of Grand Teton National Park (just south of Yellowstone), at a summer resort known as Flagg Ranch. It was all well and fun and I got pretty damn brown (for me, at least), went hiking every day, and swam naked under waterfalls. Yes, really. The only negative thing about it? No internet, and therefore no RT. Come the end of September (September 25th, to be exact) the season ended and I was shipped off, out of house, home, and job into this shitty economy. My boyfriend and I decided to move to his place of origin: the Mormon capital of the world -- Salt Lake City, Utah. We were mostly homeless for the better part of a month, and spent most of our time camping in the hills over Utah Valley (Provo/Orem area) and coming down whenever we got a chance to seek a job. And yes, as usual, my 360 went everywhere with me, although I remember one particular evening of utmost inebriation when it nearly brought me to tears that I couldn't use it (in the wilderness... ha). Come the end of October, we both (finally) had jobs and moved into an apartment near Kilby Court (a venue) in SLC. I could, at long last, use my 360 but obviously we were both far too poor to pay for internet and that meant two things: a) no Live and b) again, no RT. Mid-December, I had to come back to Jackson for a court date over a misdemeanor that has been an ongoing thorn in my side since May of 2008. Long story short, I hosted a house party, didn't satisfactorily complete my unsupervised probation and was therefore placed on supervised probation December 11th and confined back to Jackson for a full year. My parents were out of town until just after New Years, so my boyfriend and I stayed with some family friends. When they got back, we began renting their annexed apartment, and I got a job as a front desk slave at a somewhat "chic" resort in town, the Jackson Hole Lodge. The clientele makes me miss Flagg Ranch every damn day, but it pays the bills and the people I work with make it worthwhile. I suppose in a way of acknowledging my ongoing struggle with the economy, my parents purchased me the laptop I am now using to dictate this to y'all. It's a MacBook Pro, and as much as my deepest wish is for some Alienware steeze, it's better than nothing. And I have internet once more, obviously. Unfortunately, for some reason my 360 was having issues recalling my Live account, and I couldn't remember the password for the age old email I had at the time I signed up for it. SO, I'm in the process of purchasing a new subscription and starting Live allllll overrrrr againnnnn. So, that's my six to eight months in (somewhat of) a nutshell. And now that I have the internet permanently, you can expect more from me in the future. Have a good one, y'all. |
