I've Been Tagged
bikemancs hit me with a tag, and I'm game.
1 - I was born in Canada. I may have only lived there for about 2 months, but I was born there, and as far as I know, I have dual citizenship to this day, not to mention a spiffy Canadian Birth Certificate. Oh, and because of that, I didn't get a Social Security Number until my little sister was born.
2 - I have lived in 13 different houses, not counting the 6 dorms, apartments, and houses I've rented since leaving home for school.
3 - I attended a new school each year between my 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grades. 5th to 6th I started a Middle School. 6th to 7th we moved. 7th to 8th we moved. 8th to 9th I started a High School. 9th to 10th we moved. 10th to 11th I started MSMS.
4 - I attended MSMS, a residential high school for Juniors and Seniors. It's like a college (or used to be... I could have a nice long rant about changes I don't like), so I essentially started that 2 years early.
5 - I have been hit by a tornado. An F2 tornado hit my dorm, Peyton, while I was a Senior at MSMS. I was on the first floor when it hit, and can still remember it quite vividly. Especially returning to my room and finding it all torn up.
6 - I mod computer games for fun. Or rather, I mod a computer game: Operation Flashpoint. I was a member of the now-defunct Invasion '44 mod. But I still mess with things on my own time. Another topic I could talk about (and bore everyone with) for hours. Just ask my wife.
7 - I was recently formally inducted into the Ordnance Corps, so now I get to wear the Ordnance Regimental Crest on my A's. I still haven't bought any Blues.
8 - Ordnance officers have 2 main jobs: maintenance and ammunition. Most of the work is maintenance, but I honestly prefer the ammo part based on what we've covered so far. Not holding out for a position though, as they are few and far between (in addition to having other downsides, like OSHA penalties that can be tens of thousands of dollars per day, per violation).
9 - Before joining the Army, I was the definition of "Nerd". I was skinny as a toothpick, totally socially awkward, completely weak, and extremely timid. Now I am about as skinny as a toothbrush, mostly socially awkward, but I can pass an APFT and look you in the face when I talk to you. I'm still just as pasty-white though.
10 - I went sailing with my uncle for the first time a month ago, and loved it. Got to get rich so I can go sailing more often. Okay, maybe the getting rich part isn't a fact. But I did go sailing, so this still counts!
